    Rotor Drive motor Voltage Limiter

    Hi to all
    after installing the neogen coils and jt circuit...... finally dsmantled
    and installed a dc motor as driver
    Ceramic magnets on the base lowered the voltage feed from the wall adaptor
    This rig will be used for coil to rotor sweetspot
    and then install one gen coil at a time.... still waiting for magnetite powdr

    Cap value

    Hi Guys,


    scratchrobot, i think i see you are using a 47uF polarised cap, so be aware that this cannot handle AC very good and are likely to "puff", so be carefull.
    You can put 2 polarised caps back to back (+'s together) to substitude for a bipolar cap.

    Concerning the series cap value, take note that when using coils with inductance in the 2 to 10 mH range and frequency of the puls in the 150Hz range, the cap needs to be in the 400uF range to obtain resonance, see one of the many resonance calculators on the web like:

    Well, it looks like this is getting more interesting, at least for me atm. I started playing with coil spacing, different caps values and Bloch Wall in each coil Resonance is a powerful force. Funny, when I connected coils in series at first I was thinking in conventional way. I was wrong, not the first time lol. I can dead short DC side of the bridge and rpm remains the same. I'm still not tuned 100% but at least I see what's going on.

    this works very well. Bit it different to what I would have believed.

    note how each capacitor sits on top of the other one and the voltage is added up one cap at a time.

    what will happen when we get to all 9 coils?

    the important thing is there is no load on the motor. the motor run faster with every new stage. it going to take me a while to get a few more constructed as this is quite complex if you turn of the wrong stage first the voltage goes

    I am sorry to clogg up this thread with something that might not be relevant but your post reminded me of a circuit I saw doing some research. There are some striking similarities to your proposed circuit above. Pay special attention to page 10 of the pdf below.

    Considering that RomeroUK used a dc to dc converter, I thought this might be of special interest.

    Anyway, you seem to be heading in the right direction, at least from my limited perspective.

    I tried to experiment more with cap in series with 1 Ohm before the bridge while having DC side shorted with 150 Ohms. I scope across the cap and 1 Ohm and I see the best increase in amplitude around 20uF. Adding 10 or 20uF doesn't change anything. Something isn't right. I have a question to those who have a working device; what is the position of hall triggering magnets on the rotor in relation to the rotor magnets? On Romerouk video they seem to be aligned with rotor magnets but on toranarod pics they're in between.

    Thanks scratchrobot and toranarod Yes, I'm playing with core magnets as well. The one thing I'm not sure (not the only one ) - my hall is triggered by rotor magnets since I couldn't find anything small enough to fit the edge of the rotor (may try small neo spheres) and I'm not sure if this is a good idea for proper tuning.

    I can not move them on my muller replica also but i do think it is important that you can move the coils to tune. When doing it like I do with one hand it is not easy to keep it at the right place.

    I get the same wave form. it can be tuned with the magnets on top of the coils.

    Indeed, it looks like a Kromrey. I tried to do the same earlier today but I'm getting only single "yoke" and with 10 Ohm not 1 like you have. I was testing one of the gen coils. Unfortunately I can't move them.

    Today did another experiment and discovered that when i put the top coil at the right spot, the spot that gives me the highest rpm then the scope shows me the Kromrey waveform. I don't think this is a coincidence. This time I also used a 47uf cap in series with the coils. I attach a picture with schematic of what I did and the waveforms, left is mine and right is the original Kromrey scopeshot.

    paralell cap

    I tried couple different caps in parallel with gen coil. Large value (20uF) makes LED's brighter but slows rpm, however, smaller ones don't. There are also interesting wave patterns with some ringing present at certain values. It looks like this maybe another variable to play with if we look at gen coils with cap across as LC resonating circuit.

    Is it so hard to understand why the speed of the rotor increases?
    Because opposite magnets when magnet turns away from coil then this COIL SHORTING hangs the the flux of top magnet to go back to his normal position, this flux goes back with time-lag, with delay, flux from top magnet does not come to an end before next rotor magnet arrives ... and next ... and next ... and as a result the speed of the rotor increases, especially when the right rpm chosen then rotor magnets have nothing to fight with anymore, no repulsion, no attraction.
