    special transformer build ?

    Fellows
    Most of these tuning issues will disappear if we can build the transformer
    That Mr.D referred to?

    That being a variable transformer that makes 1-2 KW within our cycle window !
    This can be done cheaply as Daemonbart said using recycled heat pump boards and parts ...if we work together open source !

    This is the course we must take!!

    It is not a diode; it is a fat resistor, high wattage, value depending
    on the loudspeaker being used. It is connected in series with the speaker
    and then across the mains.

    Then, you will hear the frequency (or an octave thereof - NOT a harmonic)
    and should tune directly to it.

    The basic note, 50hz (or 60hz in the States and other countries) is
    PHENOMENALLY low. Cheap speakers will get you octaves. You should
    try for the real thing if possible.

    To see how staggeringly low it is, if you have Windows 98, ME, XP
    or Vista, try this free software:

    To the output of the sound card, you need a good speaker or preferably quality earplugs.

    There are two Octave sliders; both MUST be set "Octave 1".

    The UK note will be around G, "w" on the keyboard which will be difficult to hear because it is so low. The "o" (between "i" and "p", and not zero) is a full octave higher.

    In the US, it will be 60hz, between B flat and B , between "4" and "r". The note between "_" and "[" is fully an octave too high.

    These notes are seriously low. See for yourselves.

    Hi Jimmy,

    My suggestion would be to use a laptop running on a battery (to avoid mains freq interferrence) and using this free software:

    DL4YHF's Audio Spectrum Analyser

    One of its features is:
    Frequency resolution in the sub-milliHertz range (exceeding the stability of the soundcard's clock generator).

    you can zoom in the range that you want to look at, say for example from 20 hz to 100 hz to correctly nail down what your specific frequency is.

    Then place your laptop or microphone next to something running on your mains power (preferrably something with a bigger transformer or motor etc.).

    Just listening to transformer hum through vibrations in the table, I can tell the frequency of my off grid inverter is at 61.05 hz.

    Regarding the Ring or Cap that goes around the can ?

    Hi All

    regarding just the ring going around the aluminium can.

    I was just wondering regarding the ring that goes around the can
    at 300hz or 400hz ,

    by cutting and making the can ring to exact measurments is this making it
    vibrate at 300hz or 400hz,

    once whe have made the ring for the can, do we not test the ring itself to see if vibrates at 300hz or 400hz.

    in other words if ring is cut to exact measurments , it will vibrate at 300hz or 400hz according to the model being made, us or europe.

    I believe Zinc will loose its sacrificial property when it is heated, not sure at which temperature, so you should look into that.

    What is the way to slowdown galvanic corrosion between aluminium, stainless steel and brass ? Beer can is aluminium, ring/cap (neutral electrode) is SS and most common pipe system is copper + brass.
    I thought about zinc from batteries. Anybody experienced ?

    Inverter

    Hi AM!

    I am working with IGBT modules from scrap inverter heat-pumps. My first and working setup is from other components but will be hard to replicate, and expensive.

    The IGBT modules are perfect for our use in boiler, I guess I will blow some of them from start

    I hope some of us could work in open source with the setup

    I want to say also, this inverter driver will not alone make sonic boiler OU!

    The inverter is a good start for many of you I think!

    I hope to start a thread dedicated for this later today!

    I make it a rule to try and accommodate anyone asking nicely, so I will extend the same rule to you.
    I made this account few months a go, while my reading of EF goes much longer. At that time I must have been in a good mood and being extremely immature person at certain aspects for my age and status (I train that part of me on daily basis to keep it that way, playing games and being childish with my kids at some points), I used this nick... Now if you were to ask me WHY, dont really know and who cares? Does it say something to you, perhaps me not being benevolent...?

    Now to more important matters, been doing some tests last night, with 2 frequencies. Used 4 plates this time, they were thin but too thick to get any "sound" response from them with my amplifier, so I turned 2 plates in "dummy" plates and again I got around unity response.

    Then I used 4 different plates, made of aluminum, VERY thin. Those responded with my amplifier very nicely, BUT to keep up with power from socket at 50Hz, I turned my amplifier to the very end. It seems I pushed this amplifier a bit more than he can handle :P

    So in the end, I got no particular news to report other than being 2 amplifiers short now.
    Both burned out. Feel sorry about this last one, it was a strong one, bought for this

    Anyway, will stop here, try to think about another approach. Should I get any ideas, will post here.

    First off, I am in France, had to sign myself out of hospital as my brother inlaw was found dead in his flat in the north of France, today is the funeral.

    The magnetic amplifier is made up of two separate transformers, it must not be all on one core as it works as an out of phase saturation of the cores. It is conected as shown in the circuit, the pot varies the amount of saturation of the cores, amplification can be up to 100 times when using the diodes as shown.

    I think this will work very well with what you are doing, I have not tested this with your application, but with a light bulb it works as I have stated "resistive load".
