And all this has come to pass due to a thread the OPEN SOURCE community started here at the energetic forum
---"Everybody wants everything for free it seems, so I will part company with some free advice, just keep working at your own projects, and don't just sit back waiting for some Saint to come along and hand you their very own hard work for free, that will never happen in this lifetime, or the next."
. Do they think all of the knowledge "given" in this forum and the net just fell on the persons lap without any work being involved? The fact remains that many here would have little if it was not for the hard work of people like ashtweth, stefan and Aaron who create places or environments where people can find knowledge and share it openly.@rosco1
Perhaps the most disturbing aspect for me, is that the fringe element seems to think we've used information gained by being members of this site for our own benefit, which is simply not true. I'd like for someone to show me where we've done this.
1) Did you have any knowledge of prior art which influenced your suppossed idea?
Yes of course, you must have learned something from someone else at some point otherwise you cannot learn anything, others knowledge has led you to a new understanding thus the "others" are as much a part of your success as anything. It does not matter who it is, it may well be your high school math teacher from years ago but everyone around you has influenced your thoughts in some way.
2)Have you used information gained by being members of this site for our own benefit?
Yes of course, to state otherwise would imply all the posts you have read here have not influenced you in any way which is impossible. Has this benefited you personally? Yes it has because if you had not read all of these posts, which I know you have, you would not have the knowledge of prior art which has led to your "new" idea. New idea's do not appear out of thin air, they are always a product of prior knowledge or experience and very often these new idea's are in fact not new in any way.
"The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources." --Albert Einstein.
My purpose is not to offend you and if I have I will apologize in advance, but too many times I have seen people succeed and then be overcome by a sort of delusion. This delusion starts as fear that they will not be recognized for the work they have done thus not recieve their just rewards that they believe they deserve. Next is the fear that someone will steal their idea which leads to thoughts of conspiracy and reclusive anti-social behavior. Followed by contempt for others, because others have not succeeded they are seen as inferior and "undeserving" of the knowledge gained. In the end a "to hell with them all Im going to get rich" attitude evolves and the whole dream degenerates into chaos. The comical part is everyone always says-- "this will never happen to me"-- and it almost always does, LOL. I am not saying I am any different or better than anyone else but understanding the problem is always a big part of the solution. Through years of research of the history of invention I have found there is seldom a suppossed "conspiracy" and it is usually a self-inflicted failure, we are our own worst enemy because we are only human, nothing more --nothing less. I am not saying you should do anything but every day we should ask ourselves-- "why am I doing this?" and "who am I doing this work for really?", we can say whatever we want but deep down we know the truth, we know who we are.
