LAN Cable SS SSG - No resonance 240312
Hi to all
Using a 4 pair LAN cable, no resonance on my crt toroid either its loose or the wires too thin input 12 . 30 output 12.04 even I increase the current fromm 200 to 2 Amps.... need to go back to magnet wire
From another area I was able to raise the voltage from a converted ALUMINUM battery 70 AH from 12.20 standing voltage now is 13.4 v dc with aluminum electrolyte

In the past 2 SS SSG circuit I have heat in the coil or pot that needs to be rectified, larger gauge output leads has eliminated most of the issue in the smaller builds, pushing 1-2A @ 12-24V is going to a new senario.
Then can build a voltage regulator circuit/cap bank combo to hook up to a solar panel in place of the primary. Thus far, battery to battery is more efficient

No big conlcusions on the aluminum wire, other than it works, it was cheap, and the savings more than paid for all of the other components of the build. As 49'er had pointed out (but unfortunately I had bought it already... might have been better to buy a bigger gauge, slightly.. say 16 or 14 AWG, to negate higher resistance factors). It's all an experiment!

IMHO the higher resistance w/o a core is preferable - this is what I find most interesting about your build
I think your charger will outdo mine.
put a large FLAB bank on the charging side.

Aluminum Magnet Wire Air Core Experiment
Just an update, first trial run on the 4T SS SSG, with a 5 filar Aluminum Magnet Wire coil, no core. In this build i added a "coil sniffer" wind to the standard Air Core transformer. It was wound on with 30 AWG, 21-22 turns, then taped, and the letz'd 5 filar on top. Worked out pretty close to plan (hopes). The filar ended up being about 148 turns, the wires were 100' in length, equal trigger gauge. Hi Patrick,
I think that what you show with multiple spikes then a rest period, repeated over and over like you show is a very efficient way to charge a battery. The way you do it is way slicker than how I have been doing it. I've been using a seperate timer circuit to gate it on and off, I'll have to try your setup. Have you put a scope on JB's "10 Amp 12V Battery Charger (AC Power Input)" ? (+_+)

I've been doing an experiment with aluminum wire. Haven't fired her up yet, but this is what I got so far. Still uploading is this video of what's going on in this experiment.

I will have to check that out on the "joule ringer" thread. Did you try that on a few parallel AA batteries, that should be noticable

If you add the neon to the CE of the transistor you can safely remove the load for at least 5-10min intervals. I do this all the time when showing people the SSG can generate 200-400V (depending on the build) off 12V input and is not wound like a transformer
Also, how you can see and hear the radiant pulses generated in the neons.
I have done this many times with no damage to the transistors, but do that with heavily sulfated batteries and nothing can save the transistor
I'm still learning everyday with all the different tech I experiment with

from your previous drawing of minoly mod 6 coiler now to his 2nd mod 4 transistor using only 5 coiler the extra coil connected to a toroid with ring magnet bet the 5 coiler and toroid then to a diode and goes back to the source battery
from initial 9.4 v standing voltage it went to 11.20 after 6 h
hours see my sketch in joule ringer same set up
