Yeah I am having fun !! Especially since this test method seems to be a good one .
I just couldn't get into it otherwise .
Now we have a baseline and a goal !!

    Good Job!!

    Hi Chet,

Good job!! You got yours in the water first. I messed up my ring. Got it over sized. Got in a hurry and didn't read my caliper right so my figures were off. What were the specs on your ring, (i.e.: thickness, height, & gap)? Thanks!!

    Best Regards,
    Slovenia

Ramset, quick thought, cut a piece of round wood with the diameter of the IKEA + recommended space ....and voila you got you ring mold

use this to make your circle

    Slovenia Update

I messed up my ring. Somehow I got it over sized by quite a bit. I tried to cut it down and save it but is was a bust, so I have to make a new ring tomorrow. I guess I got in to big a hurry. I wanted to get my IKEA in the water before Chet.

    Wood

    Hi Chet,

It looks good. You have to use what you have and sometimes it's only wood so you use it even though it's not optimal choice. Mr. IKEA says it needs to point down, (i.e.: the bottom of the flask is supposed to be pointed down).

I've got my experimental assembly totally completed except for the ring which I still need to make. I've got the strip cut out but that's it. I've also figured out the length I need but I need to radius it and make my bends and then attach it to my ring holder. I feel really good about my setup. Anybody with hand tools can make what I made with the IKEA flask. You'll be seeing a pic of it soon.

    Best Regards,
    Slovenia

    Good to see you Bud

I am afraid something will get lost in the sauce with a transformer??
The fellow who is sharing the ikea device has emphasized 220 for max benefit ??
We shall see ,I am on schedule to get this running this evening !!
    @S
I am breaking my own rule for the chassis
since I am building away from home [and my shop] with only limited resources and tools,i am going to see what happens with wood

I have new respect [additional] for your patience with these rings!!

It will most definitely become a bit of an art form ,this 304 is fairly high PSI
and fights like a cat on a leash .

I'm really struggling to get 5mm [afraid its gonna snap]

    PS
Ares123 thanks for the flowers ......[lots of good men here .... and one woman

I had a few problems to sort thru ,220 issues .
I am still not certain we can do things this way with 220 and expect the same results as our European friends.
WE will be mixing phases two 110 lines out of phase with each other?

As opposed to our friends with 50 hz they have one nice [in phase] 220 line that gets a neutral .

    We shall see ??
I am actually not even sure if I can get good Watt measurements??

I will attempt to run My two 110 legs into two killowatt meters [one on each phase/leg] I don't know what to expect ?? Could roast my meters??

I'm going back to the shop .....
    Chet
Chet, I agree. You need to step up the single phase 110 to 220 with 2:1 transformer. Here is a lot of (3) 1 kva control transformers. You could hook them up in PARALLEL for more current if you want.
