    Stingo do not require relay coil but can use it. But I think you refer something like Imhotep relay charger?

    I tried relay based circuit once but leaving it because:
    - problem with sparking (wasting, too big, heat, etc.)
    - weak output
    - slow charging
    - noisy

    I don't know what kind of circuit used in that video, look interesting. what kind of conclusion you have from that video Buddybill65?

    You can use lots of different kinds of coils with stingo... You have to play around to find a coil with the right inductance and sweep around with the potentiometers until it oscillates. The first coil I used was a car ignition coil (for making sparks with a spark gap across the secondary), and I have used transformer coils extracted out of wall wart transformers, toroids I wound myself, and lots of different kinds of coils. Check my YouTube videos to get an idea of what coils that I have used successfully.

    With load? While different coil / core do change behaviour, I think the potentiometer combination can also change behaviour.

    Change the 100K and 30K resistor bellow with 100K potentiometer and see if you can sustain the oscillation at lower frequency.

    Reducing input current also increase frequency of stingo. And 7imix found there is limit on how high the frequency can go. Maybe ferrite allow higher frequency. 7imix is more fluent in this. He has to alter other potentiometer to allow the circuit to work at higher frequency, and at the same time, lower input current.

    Electrolysis need current. try raising the input to 300mA. If you still see no bubble, check if the circuit still running.

    I usually test it with tap water, without any catalyst.

    Unfortunately, that is normal in stingo circuit. You have to add heatsink and maybe add fan too.

    What is the current consumption? 1 Amp would be too high. I usually limit to 500mA input on each stingo.

    To get high output current, I use more stingo each with low current, instead of running one with high input current. But in case you have good cooling system, I think using one is ok. But watch the coil temperature too.
    Thanks for response another thing is that first circuit worked even with 20ma but the second one needs least 120ma to oscillate.
    Why is this maybe the coil thickness and toroid variation?
    I tried the stingo to the cell but no bubbles emerged. Which is the one diode recovery version circuit?

    If I am right can you please send me a schematic?
    I have a problem on one of the circuits that I've built; the Tip31c is getting very hot.
    Any clue?

    Yes, similar to other. But don't hesitate to use better one. Since we don't use the current, only the voltage, I think diode with less amp rating can be used too. I only use 2Amp diode for output only. I think fast glass diode is better for the PNP to NPN diode but may need scope shot comparison.

    Interesting. But that 5 watt resistor made me wonder with the heat. Also what kind of electricity being transfered to the battery.

    How long that circuit need to charge two nimh/nicd in series? What is the end temperature, is it hotter or colder than your arm pit / body?

    Mine, two 2500mAh nimh require two hours with 1Amp input at 11.5V, with battery temperature never hotter than my body. two 1000mAh nicad require 1 hour.

    I don't agree. The circuit will self adjust. If we just need lower voltage we only need to adjust it so it will produce lower pwoer. I have been using it to charge small and big battery many months now.

    You remember bingo problems charging small batteries ? After that
    i started to think of stingo in similar way, too high voltage for small
    batteries radiant chargers like stingo produce on the output, so i think
    it is not good solution too (stingo) for charging small batteries...

    Dont you think so ?

    Btw, any suggestions which thread to watch ?

    I mean, i would like to engage in some productive project, but i just do not
    see something that suits to me , and i always look for something simple
    and effective like joule thief, stingo, bedini window motor, etc...

    I bought one sony super quick charger for small batteries, and i disassemble
    it (i had to use something else instead of screwdriver, hahahahha), i was
    hoping that i maybe could have been able to replicate it, but when i opened
    it, surprise : what did you expect sucker, maybe some schematic and ticket
    for hockey game ?, hahaha...in there smd components, unknown parts, just
    unusable for my intentions....

    Then i wanted to buy max 712 or max 713, but it is too expensive chip here,
    so i am not sure if it was reasonable decision to buy it just for experiment
    purposes...

    It is just a play of polarity. We use the negative and dump the positive. We connect the negative output to our body or our bed or an antenna, after we connect the positive output to water in a bucket.

    Do not connect the positive output to ground!

    I use this circuit bellow. If you use 12V source make sure to add 1K ohm to the PNP base to prevent you from accidentally frying the PNP. The circuit bellow can not be used to charge because of missing 500K pot. With 3V source, output can reach 150V if connected to metal mass and a bucket of water. Around 30V without.


    Now I choose to use battery as power source and I wrap the toroid with alumunium wrap.

    Yes, joule thief is connected to the battery saving device, by now i suppose
    you already replicated your own battery saving device which is very nice
    thing...

    It is embarrassing but i have to admit that my calculations was wrong, and
    draining just microamps was just my dream, no, my joule thief drains
    between 20 and 30 mAmps, and battery saving device drains about 10
    mAmps (measuring after joule thief which is output side of course), and if
    you want you can use this batt.saving device without joule thief using
    12 V battery, it means you just hook it up directly to 12 V battery and
    for the cost of 9 mAmps you have super bright leds to lit your room or
    what ever you need to light...

    So, there is no microAmps wonders but even without that dream of mine
    this combination (Joule thief + batt.saving device) is great little toy that
    can give you a lot of light for very low price...

    Hi folks, one more thing.
    Can anyone explain how this reverse mode pnp circuit is able to oscillate.
    Is the positive polarity of the input battery able to flow through the pnp collector and the negative through the base and is that allowing the pnp to turn on just enough to kick on the npn? Thanks.

    Hi folks, Hi sucahyo, Well i finally got around to putting together a stingo circuit.
    It certainly seems efficient.
    I'm also seeing the ability for it to charge larger voltage batteries from lower voltage source and it's a good charging rate, unlike other oscillator bifilars i've tried.
    I'm using 3 AA nimh in series charging a 6 volt 4.5AH SLA off the flyback and also charging a 12 volt 7AH SLA off the secondary off the transformer I'm using with FWB.
    I'm using a TIP42 PNP and a NTE2300 NPN.
    We'll see how well this puts a charge on batteries.
    It's nice to be able to pulse coils without them having to be bifilar and such.
