    My preference would be to use something a little meatier, like 22-26 gauge. The weaving shuttle winding method makes fold kinks that have to be worked out later as you wind. I tried 32 gauge, but had problems with its delicateness. It kept breaking on me.

    i think this is absolutely ok for the purpose that i need this, and not
    just that, i combined it with bedini ssg, and what we got, let see in
    my new video...

    Farmhand, look, cut 4 m of wire and wind it, then cut another 4 m of wire
    and just continue to wind it (of course solder beginning of second 4 m to

    Listen, forget mje 3055, mje 2955, 2n3055...It wont work with those
    transistor...Use Tip 31 and tip 32 OR Tip 3055 and tip 2955 !!!
    The same mistake took me a bunch of nerves until i found out what
    had been wrong with my circuit...Now, at least i could spare your nerves !

    Hi 7imix, I don't give up, I new it would take a while to understand, i'll try a different coil, the only auto coil I have is a (-R) model with resistor I think so maybe it's no good, last night I tried with a short coil from my other oscillator.

    I hav'nt worked out how to wind a toroid yet it seems to be almost impossible to do an easy way. I'll check the arrangement of componants again and try a different coil.

    I have honestly never been angry at electrical componants before, I thought this might happen. Grrrr. I wanna join the fun. I'll get there, it's what happens when I don't learn the basics I guess, I might have to go back through this thread again, there's probably more than one thing i'm missing.

    What coil are you trying to oscillate? I have a hard time with certain coils, other coils are easier. I found car ignition coils to be the easiest (plus very fun! watch out, high voltage.)

    I have used NTE291 & NTE292, and NTE392 & 393.

    Bah Stingo won't work for me I don't know what i'm doing wrong, 4hrs and not one song, I check it over and over I must be missing something. I don't like PNP transistors they're strange, I give up for a while to do some reading. Maybe I try tommorow with 1n3055 and mj2955, TIP32c and mje3055 not working for me. Oh well. tomorrows another day.

    Sting-slay circuit

    I'm running my stingo/slayer (I've dubbed it the Sting-slay) combination circuit and charging a lead acid battery at ~500 kHz. It has an h shaped output on my scope, and the transistors are both cold--I can't detect any heat from either NPN or PNP.

    I'm going to have to check the power in and out on this thing if I can. The circuit is as described earlier with some additional mods. I'm going to have to post a schematic if people want to replicate this. I need to get my camera up and running, or figure out some simple software for drawing circuits.

    Thank you for the info. I tried my stingo with my slayer and couldn't get it to oscillate. I will try increasing the resistor to 100k and switching the PNP to normal mode.
