    @Aromaz---I think that LEDs are going to win the battle for the standard light bulb--not the CFL. I bought a little 3 LED camping tent light the other day that uses 4 AAs and it will run on low light for 130 hours. That is a tough one to beat.
    The use of reflectors and lenses can really help any light. I quess that it depends on what you want to do with the light and where you want to put it. If you really want bright light, a good ole Coleman gas lantern is kinda like that search light you talked about. LOTS and LOTS of light from a small flame. On the boat I sometimes run a single mantle one with the hatches open for ventilation. It also warms the boat but I can only use it in port. It is too dangerous at sea.

    Table Candle II

    I did another small flourescent light similar to my Christmas gift lights. Nothing special here except that I found out if you use a 'step down adjustable voltage regulator' with a standard inverter driver it allows for much better control of the power consumption. I put the whole thing in a little clear plastic cube and made a video of it. Just a fun little day project.

    Hi Aaron,

    The only info given on the bulb was this "The Sylvania bulb" and AFAIK it is bog stock standard CFL. (You can check it out on BM3 groups).

    It is actually a brushless motor conversion, the motor being out of an old office printer of all things! It looks very cool, plenty of poles to play around with. Their is only currently 4 coils being used. I thought that at first he may have utilised a HEI chip or similar (like John has shown in one of the advanced groups) and that it may be the same principle, considering JB's one had the trigger coil @ 90degrees and this also has 90 degree quandrants. But the user (dadhav) says it is directly connected to unit, replacing the charging battery.

    Worth a look.

    hmm. Just to point out chaps, it seems someone on the monopole groups has got their UNMODIFIED cfl to run in place of the charging battery on their SG. I am awaiting more details.

    Here is video of joule thief with neon. Sound is frequency picked up from transformer. HHO cell used as current limiter.

    The circuit is in attachment. The video story:
    At first I use only one of my HHO cell which require the least amount of current. The neon would not light up even when I change the frequency.

    And then I use all of my HHO cell. The neon will light up only at resonance.



    Not shown on video, the neon will not light up if I use the BEMF to charge battery or to power up 12V computer fan.

    I see why everyone want to change to solid state. I can tune the circuit to power up computer fan rather fast without having to deal with spark that heating up relay . And because the power that get trough the transistor is low, the transistor (no heat sink) and resistor is cool. The transformer get slightly warm though. Transformer coil attached to neon detected as producing 190V AC. The circuit draw 0.13 amp.

    Edit:
    By removing the HHO cell, I can make the neon light up at any frequency. The neon will still light up when the BEMF is loaded with computer fan which run close to full speed. But it still go off when the BEMF is loaded with charge battery. The max BEMF now can only detected by either detecting voltage at charged battery or the purpleish light at the neon.



    Conclusion from this experiment:
    - Highest BEMF can be attain at resonance, the power consumption is lower too. This maybe influenced by coil wire, core or wound.
    - We need current to get BEMF. If we think the electricity as water, to get BEMF we need to make it flow fast (high current) and coil is needed to generate inertia or something. There must be minimum requirement for coil wound for sufficient inertia, although maybe at very high voltage and amp coil may not be needed becase the flow already very fast. Higher momentum will create greater impact. Large impact generate more BEMF avalanche.
    - Voltage multiplication is not an important factor. My transformer can only output 200V and it still light up the neon. Generating sufficient BEMF is more important.
    - Electricity has mass.

    Possibilities (next experiment)
    - At high amp, we may end up charging the source battery too if we get resonance.
    - There is a BEMF leak in the coil indicated by slightly warm temperature. Maybe an air core is preferable. A wire wounding going trough the center and outer part of this coil at vertical direction may be used to utilize this leaked power.

    About frequency, I found something interesting today. Starting with the background story:

    I bought Toshiba 2N3055 yesterday. I replace the 2N2222 of my multivibrator circuit with that. It still failed. So I decided to do something else.

    I have plan to use Joule thief circuit for charging and lighting neon. At first attempt I failed. Then I am thinking that it also good as PWM. so I put it together as my HHO cell PWM.

    Work very well. The current have to be divided by the coil and the cell, so the current can only be change between 1% to 50%. The base resistor get very hot if the current is high, but the transistor it self is cool.

    I listening Meyl lecture when I touch the 2N3055 collector, I got shock in my ear. My ear phone have additional magnet attached to increase gain and it touch my ear. Touching the 2n3055 hurt my ear. This make me realize that there should be BEMF current in collector.

    Knowing this I attach a charging battery. It do have BEMF. I don't know why I don't notice it before. Maybe because I was wrong to think that neon is an indication of back EMF. Neon do not light up at all. The transformer I use has 8 ohm between 24V to 24V pin. 500 ohm secondary for neon output using 0V and 240V pin. Currently 12V 7A battery charging at 1V per hour rate.

    The interesting part is when I try to reduce the frequency of the circuit (higher frequency have smaller duty cycle, make HHO cell produce less bubble). The voltage of the charging battery is increased when I reduce the frequency. Up until the point the power supply shut off it self.

    The same thing happen when I start from lowest frequency, when I increase the ferquency, the voltage of charging battery increase until the the power supply shut off it self. The current draw (HHO production) always proportional with frequency (base resistance). But the BEMF voltage isn't. My power supply shut off it self when the base resistance is between 660 ohm and 3.88 Kilo ohm.

    For reference, here is the sound that picked up by microphone from transistor. From high frequency to low until the power is shut off automatically.

    here is the video, for this experiment I replace battery with led. led is powered by back EMF. The video will show that back EMF is not generated the same way as current do, more to resonance frequency. I use only one cell of my HHO generator to avoid shutting off my power supply.

    I think there must be a sweet spot for generating the maximum BEMF. Anyone else having similar experience?

    edit, I can make it light up neon too. Neon is placed at secondary. Previous attemp failed because the neon only light up when the circuit is in resonance and generate the max BEMF.

    @Lidmotor. I remember clearly my electronics courses at university as the biggest sleeping pill ever encountered from my side....

    Turned out I dragged myself through the courses with average grades studying 2 days before exam forgetting everything about electronics before the evening of the exam party.... Then I told myself "never again I will do something as useless as this".... Well, imagine having Konstantin Meyl as teacher, eyes would have been wide open and 15 years would not have been lost....

    @all, why not try to study the VIC of chapter 10-11 of the WFC letter of Stan Meyer? Believe me, he is underestimated, he really built a beautiful magnetowave generator in one piece of multiple spools and 1-way wires to a gap inside water or air.

    Pulse the magnetowaves from the VIC to a spark gap inside the Gray tube or inside the WFC and you will get radiant energy as far as I see it. Most people never reached chapter 10 of the WFC because his theories are just too much.... But this one will payoff I am sure.

    It should be easily wound and will yield better results than almost anything I have seen so far. Each spool will generate one node and then you send the nodes from the primary/secondary for a collision in the gap. Voila pick up the radiant, ie with the Gray tube. And the best part of all you will not need the transformers etc, just step charge the nodes into the gap for a collision wave that will screw itself out from center to the concentric Gray tube copper cages in a scroll wave.

    Goal, plan, execution. Please study the late VIC, you will get RESULTS.

    This is why Meyl achieves his waves without HV, he has the right geometry of his coil and understands the duality of he E/B-field, that is the secret. The rest is frequency.

    Enough said, thanks for your time, if I am wrong you may want to electrocute me, I will have to take the risk and I hope someone else can see what I see asap.

    @ Warren---You are so right! " Proper, Prior, Planning, Prevents, Poor, Performance. The six Ps. There is another one that goes: Set a goal. Make a plan. Work the plan. Reach the goal. My Dad was a Aerospace systems engineer and he taught me the value of thinking things out before starting a project.
    As far as the MTR guy is concerned, he may have had a plan that went like this: "Honey my old truck is all worn out and I need to get a new one." Wife says: " Ha--Not until you get rid of that old tree in the back." The flaw in his plan was that now he has to rebuild his fence too as well as dipose of his "tree truck".
