Reverting back to transient spikes: When the current path is interrupted (opened) the field collapses generating a transient. This transient DOES NOT OBEY LENZ LAW as the circuit is OPEN. This flow is longitudinal. Any open solenoid (coil) will transmit longitudinally (That mystical "radiant energy" we all hear about). All you have to do is provide the changing magnetic field to generate the EMF.

Have you noticed how many on these forums seem to arrogantly assume they can violate natural laws as easily as civic ones? I think I know how this originates--it may be derive from language. Think about it, we violate laws routinely: who doesn't exceed the posted speed limit or declare all income when filing taxes? So, as an amateur FE hack, to have someone more experienced or qualified say 'You can't do that, it violates Lenz's Law!' after you describe your OU device to them must sound like an arrogant or defensive statement--as if you'd achieved something they hadn't. lens law says that when there is a change in magnetic flow in a circuit hence there is an induced emf the induced emf creates an opposite magnetic field and an opposite force to the one you apply to change the magnetic flow .. if there was magnetic monopole this could not be possible .. because it would gain excess energy since the opposite magnetic field attracts the monopole... and you would destroy the circuit because it would gain infinite energy , this is the definition of perpetuum mobile or however you call it.Last edited by tachyon; 06-16-2013, 05:09 PM.The pure in heart will see the light.

Dave, when you wind your coils, how do you determine the scale or size? The image you present reminds me of the effect shown at 20:38 in The Primer Fields Part 1 of steel balls aligning themselves in the magnetic field of 2 bowl shaped magnets. I believe this affect would be scalable.

I really think explanation is not published anywhere. I also don't believe that it's about pure fields (would cause recurrence issue). I believe in simple explanation : magnetic field change cause a current flow in closed circuit AND this current flow is opposing the original magnetic field by the action of quantum spin-moments of electrons. In other words Ed Leedscalnin was right and we are pushing small magnets (electrons or maybe smaller particles) via wires. Current can only flow if the circuit is closed. If the circuit is open, there are no opposing magnetic fields, as none can exist without current. This is how lenz law is "side-stepped".
So how do you get an open circuit to do useful work? Lindemann posted a good schematic in the Ainsle heater thread showing how it's possible.
Honestly I am surprised to see few understand what is happening with a transient spike. I opened a text book on motors, transformers, and industrial maintenance at my college and was shocked to see that the book only contained a couple sentences on transients.
The lack of information on this phenomena is disturbing to say the least. Transients caused so many problems with the first attempts at electrical grids. Tesla even talked about it as men would be electrocuted at the flip of the switch.
Abrupt disruption. Rapidly opening and closing the circuit generates HUGE transients. If you open and close it at a specific rate, resonance comes into play. Suddenly Tesla's secrets, are not really all that hidden.... Just "misunderstood" as Eric Dollard puts it.

The answer is in the geometry but it brings up some things that Im not comfortable with right now.
