    This what we know for sure:

    1. All four wires are wound together on center coil, wires not twisted.
    2. Definetely only two wires coming out of each coil. I was at the conference and can verify this.
    3. All #15 wires of the coils are hooked in parallel and terminate at two posts on the back of the switching control box.

    The question remains as to how a magamp function can be achieved if the control wires are also connected in parallel with the power wire?

    Thoughts anyone?

    i guess John B suggested to stabilize your Hall this way:



    Use a 15 V zener to keep the input of the hall at 15 V
    Nevermind the strange type for the hall, my database did not have a hall symbol.

    Thankyou John K for the updated schematic. Was wondering what size cap you ended up using. I'll add the zener as soon as John lets us know which is best.

    I just wish I could get youtube to see some of these great videos. Can't get youtube in China. It will have to wait till I get back home to Usa. But just love reading all the progress everyone as done with John B. helps.

    As I was not at the conference, I do not know for sure...

    If all 4 strands are in parallel on the main coil as a Drive Coil, then how do the 2 18ga control wires, control anything as a Mag Amp....?

    John K. Ask JB about this in a earlier post......... and I think that these control wires need to be biased in a certain direction, at certain times in the Drive Coil Duty cycle, to function as a Mag Amp......... so that the turn on bias point of the core, is different from the turn off bias point of the core

    I could be wrong......

    @RS,

    It is my understanding that all 4 windings on the main coil are in parallel (power and control). Looking at the pictures and from what I remember at the conference, there are only two wires that are coming out of the main coil. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

    Thanks for the help.

    When I was running the 3GT at 36V I connected pin 2 of the hall to the negative of 12V to prevent the hall from burning out. But I will do as you suggest to keep the hall at 15V. What size zener do you suggest to use?

    I would put a 1.5K ohm Resistor between the input voltage to the hall and a zener diode to GND to keep the hall at 15 volts. If you use 36 volts you will burn that device out. This machine runs at 36 volts. Just something to note here.

    Wire Measurments

    Hi, John B, Brent and all,

    Based on my Mathcad AWG Magnet Wire Calculator,

    and based on JB's posted DCR measurements and my understanding of the 4 15Ga strands hooked up as the drive coil circuit......
    and the 2 18ga control strands are not apart of the drive circuit

    Main Coil
    for 15 Ga wire, 767 meters = 2516.4 Ft = 8ohms at 25.229 Lb

    2 in parallel on the main coil = 4 ohms at 50.458 LB

    Slave Coils

    15Ga 978 meters = 3208.661 Ft = 10.2ohms at 32.165 Lb

    2 Slave coils in parallel = 5.1 ohms at 64.33 LB


    4 strands of 15ga in parallel, 2 on main coil and 2 Slave coils = 2.242ohm total Drive circuit resistance, total weight = 114.815 Lb 15ga wire

    767 meters of 18 Ga on main coil for mag amp control = 16.069ohms at 12.635 Lb
    2 strands of 18ga = 25.27 Lb

    Main coil Weight = 75.728 Lb

    140.058 Lb 3 Coil weight total

    JB, if the Resistance measurements change, when you get your meter back, than i will tweek these values to match it......

    We needed to replicate your wheel as close as possible. Getting this machine right was extremely important to us. We have so much to learn from it and are eager to learn it. As you said, we have been bitten by this bug too.
