S, do you have a link?
I spoke with my old supplier today he has .060 and .110 in stock , I believe its 16 gauge and 11 gauge respectively?

we need .080 which is close to 12 gauge [very close],Everything took for ever to do today ,its ruff working on the road ,not like at my own shop!!

very hard to call peeps and get Putor time here! gonna be at least a few more days of this too .

Companies sell heating elements of this dimension. That's probably what you found in your attic.

It's interesting that I found kind of metal plate almost with required dimensions.I'm in other town now but I think there is already ready piece of metal 0.5mm wide and 0.2mm thick used for something , which I wasn't able to figure out. I found that when I cleaned my attic.

You well may be right. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it!! No, I saw the hardened too. It may be a case where it has to be heated before we could cut it. Ideally it should be cut on a shear to insure perfect cut with no warping and no material loss. I don't have a shear but that piece would make a bunch of rings.

Slovenia, not to be a nag, but you gonna be able to cut that? After all it is fully hardened. Yea what was I thinking it is shim stock though.. it is designed to be cut. Just ignore me.

Years ago I was building a core rig [multiple cores] for a high speed rail application [Amtrak]and these fellahs were one of my suppliers

Now the funny part ,Yah know how every body is all 'CAREFUL" with elec and water.Well ,... years back as a side job I would go down into the subways {on a fairly regular basis] And have to Core drill over the live rail .on the ceiling the walls and right next to the track on the Tie ............. [600 amps dc].
Piece of rubber over the rail ........... that was my protection plus common sense!!

Oh just for clarity You run water thru the bit when you diamond core drill!!

true story ... they could never shut the rail down for me and the test lab had no one else to take those samples [chickens] .

Any how the point is be safe .......... and you will be!

They're gonna see if they have some tube in stock, if so I'll send you some with the expander!

Yes, I agree with you stainless is what we need. It's iron with a few alloys. This is all about HHO for me but I started with the heat as a proof of concept. Supposedly this baby when tuned properly will run a car almost completely on water. I don't know all the particulars of that yet but know it has to run on DC instead of AC and there are a few added electrical components such as full bridge rectifier and maybe others. He didn't elaborate on that because his interest was not in that direction.

I planted some new grass in some bare spots off the concrete and the natural grass came up in it's place. The good grass all got cooked off this summer.

Volume of Tank & Stainless

I'll get the volume of the boiler today for you.

I don't have a supplier for the thin stainless strip. I do have a supplier for the large stainless tubes but they are to thick to cut down and slim to our specs. I used to purchase all my stainless tubes from Veracious Motorsports in your neck of the woods.

Their prices were very cheap and they were my main supplier for all my stainless tubes. Nobody ever gave me free samples of anything.

Mr. "C" did appear to want a ring of iron and not something else. Tesla used iron too. Nothing was ever mentioned about stainless steel. I'll see if I can get him to contact me back.

When you get the hang of it, making these rings is no big deal.

I'll get the volume for you of my boiler later today.

I have to say.... common sense tells me to use stainless.
But it seemed that he was saying ferrous ?
All the crap in the water must be the ring material?
Gotta go stainless!
Do you have a company name you can use? make up a blind ,call around for samples [ thin wall stainless tubing] tell them your doing R+d on a heater prototype and you need to test the compatibility/ interaction between materials.
I do this all the time when I build stuff [prototypes] ,all you need are some 2 inch sample cuts [well 6 inch would be nicer]different wall thickness at the same diameter as the ring.
The bigger the supplier you call the more likely they will be to send you free samples

It will be quicker for you if you find someone local .
I'll do this and send you the cuts if your not comphy with it?

I'll source some stainless tubing any how ,at least we can stretch it with
the expander ,aluminum would be a problem to stretch IMO.

I'm stuck out of town {swamped} here for a few days , But I do have a shop to play in ,perhaps I'll do the "ring in a Ring" test [before i ship you the expander].
After this I have to run straight to PA for another Job a couple days
won't be back home till next week..
Could you tell me the volume of your tank ??
