    Add more CFL's ? 1 to 3 is not enough. I found 'Amp' drop after 3 CFL's.
    How bright are your lights when compare to normal mains AC?

    Mine did this far, did not run for long - yet. Because of spark gap and induction there is no or very little current - so I think they can do. But then my coils HV output is barely 7,000 Volts.

    I amnow winding a sort-of-Tesla coil to see how I can do with wireless.

    circuit with scr

    @aromaz

    i was using two ignition coils in my transmitter circuit....which was causing all the electronics to stop/play up etc....probably knocks out a cars ignition system too maybe...never tested it..like in the ufo reports.....and lots of strange hissing noises..was even making the whole work bench hiss when using a sphere spark gap...so have reverted back to one for now....but obviously bigger is better....

    Thank you DavidE !!

    DavidE send me this link:

    Scroll down he said - And WOW! That is exactly what I was trying so much in vain to get on film! Though my coil and voltage is not nearly the same - but that is what I see every day now - and you can see why I am captivated in wonder. Very nice - dangerous - toy!

    Thank you DavidE !!!

    Tesla coil

    @Bodkins or @Nat ??
    I think one of you were doing some work on Tesla coils?

    Did you try adding another smaller coil on top of the secondary - in place of the sphere/toroid? Say this one to be about 25% to 30% similar windings as seconday but 2 or 3 gauge bigger?

    I found some interesting thing here - seems it enhance the sparks by more than 100%.

    at last time to sit at the computer

    InKwawrayt, Not tryed scr yet shop all out started using a relay trigged by a 555. but battery to big for gas to get in.It just hitting a wall need to condition some small 9v First
    Nat, been trying to find your diagram when you had a scr neon to trigger a coil, It will help if you can dig it out!

    Was walking home from work and the oxfam shop pulled me in

    i have experienced this also. it was most pronounced when the circuit was first started. as the flouro tube warmed up, the 'moving impulses' would disappear.
    i don't recall noticing this effect in my smaller tube, just the 2 footer.
    So Sorry CaptainScat Just reading back and i missed this Really sorry Man
    The bloody basement it cold so you maybe Right but i can just dial them in!!

    Camera shows blue but in real life it was more light-purple or dark-violet. Exceptionally beautiful colour - to see that; and hear that special sound it makes - unfortunately you will need to build the system.

    I am enjoying a few minutes of that first thing everytime I go into lab; before start fiddling around.

    Today got daring - wondered, expected disaster .......

    I took HV from Coil #1 through flourescent tube - then the copper wire from fluorecent tube - end near HV to + and far end to negative of Coil #2. In other words - two coils in series with HV from one feed into Pos of next. Not the expected blow up, not the expected getting hot - none but more intense 'blue fire', everything cool, calm and quiet but for the sound of 'gas leak' - a the other tubes, CFL's lit up with a strong brilliant white with tint of blue.

    Thus Coil #1 feed to Coil #2 is OK. BUT REMEMBER: My coils are cheap low quality low rate low-HV Chinese things!

    I will order two real Monster HV induction coils from USA in coming week. Also bought some real ancient design coil winder (Chinese) - needs little fixing; but now can wind coils real tight and smooth.....hand wind----- not for long!

    Gone through that 'period' four times. Then I had to carry the resulting expenses for 21 years. Last one now in Uni!

    ? Congratulations ?

    Will do burnt match and wood experiments tonight. The missus has been throwing up every night for the past 4 nights, nausea etc but feels perfectly ok every morning.. Um.
    He didn't want to admit it but he was trying to visualize the aether . But that "ion" generator looks interesting. So far the the experiments in here are in the kilovolts. Has anyone reached megavolts with a relatively small setup that doesn't blow up ?
