i will be doing an easier charger as soon as possible ,so try another brand fan (some of mine were a nightmare to get the stator off but i was able to use every one i have attempted with a little work)these fans are every where ,shops throw away bad pwr supp all the time and will give you them for free. or try my simpler charger which i will post very soon ,hopefully a few days from now

Well, I've somehow managed to utterly destroy my stator. Anybody know of an easier fan I could use, preferably one already wired right?

excellent info, checking the water levels even in the so called sealed lead acid batteries is very important. If they have been sitting in a warm area for a long period time the water does evaporate and doesnt matter how much rescuing you try to do it would be very difficult to recover them without the proper levels in each cell is what i found. (the sealed lead acid batteries still have a very small vent which u can usually pry up the top panel and then find screwed in vent caps) You have to use distilled water and if its something that has been sitting out and open ive even heard you can dump out the water with debris in a plastic container that you dispose of and refill with distilled water only and the crystals once they are spiked will remix with the water and most likely give them the proper specific gravity that they require. (i have not tried this but it was what i have read) i have only experienced one time where one of my more powerful chargers which i will be releasing the info on shortly is so powerful that it did burst the seals on alkalines that were brand new fully charged that i placed as the charge batteries because i had no drained ones, this will not occur with the fans as i can tell. but with the new more powerful charger which is an inspiration ofOriginally posted by theremart View PostI think the greatest danger is with dead batteries that have either too little distilled water in one of the cells so that it builds up hydrogen and sparks then boom sulfuric acid everywhere.

When I get a new battery, I as a rule check the electrolyte levels by pulling off the caps and refilling if needed.
For small batteries, I try to use a small voltage from a wall cell phone charger, like 6V - 9V to use to power the SSG.
The danger is there, but can be greatly lessen if you get to know your batteries and what the limits of what they can be charged with.
Safety is a good thing.... Good to watch for overheating of any electrical component, and measuring how many amps you are using.
EV grays work, It is much more powerful and much more caution should be used when i release the information.

I think the greatest danger is with dead batteries that have either too little distilled water in one of the cells so that it builds up hydrogen and sparks then boom sulfuric acid everywhere.

I've seen some pictures of people mounting the components, but not the fan... and I want to try that and see how it goes.
Anyway... just a little update on my progress... I know I dropped off for a bit, but I've been ... very busy.
I need to get my lab set up so I can start work on the basic, homebrew Bendini SSG with the whole bicycle tire and magnets and stuff.
the larger bedini (i miss spelled his name at first ,i was so excited about my discovery of recovery energy) projects put out bigger spikes ,so be ready for quicker results

the link that you had is excellent. a lot of charging and some work going on. nice size fan also. the guy did a good job. you could probably use the batteries at night when the sun goes down, possibly getting 24 hour power. i also have a large cap, a stiffening cap they are called. I havent gotten a chance to use it yet. been working on very simple 2 part relay charger, one relay one recovery diode. charges up 6 volts within 24 hours, will probably do a video, for people who dont want to build the fan and would like something simple, also been working on ev gray. and have complete power supply, which ill be releasing soon. been having alot of fun and will be posting more results as i get them. also working on new website which will have a quick an easy format to get to all my projects and movies, will post links when its complete.Originally posted by theremart View PostThe bearings are awesome!...

I have ordered today some clips for my 9V batteries, gonning to see how they opperate on my battery swapper with the fan....

as far as the vcr fan motor that ren is speaking of, i have the same motor..lol. i took all the wire off of it, and because of limited clearance i abandoned that project before i completed the computer fan. im planning hundred 's of ways to take off the shelve items and get recovery off of them, will be releasing the simple ones.

Hey Imhotep I gotta challenge for you. You seem to have enough patience to work with the smaller configurations so I reckon you should try a vcr motor.
They are basically the same as far as I can tell, just a few more coils to work with!

watch the movie on you tube (bedini imhotep ) take a component lead and clip it after you hold with hemostats or needle nose pliers gently head to sink it into plastic rotor area close to 4th wire or take old circuit board and clear off all old parts and run 4th wire thru an old lead hole and solder to a trace after you isolate that portion of board and solder old leads back in original holes and isolate them also (i use an razor knife to cut unused traces, look back in earlier part of post at my pancake coil fan ,i used this technical shortcut to rescue this fan.

I'm having a little difficulty with my stator. I'm not sure exactly how I'm supposed to attach the 4th wire in the circuit. Also, one of my other wires, as well as the metal post it was attached to broke off and I need to re-wrap it a little.

1 and 4, 2 and 3, I put 2(+) on the + supply and 3(-) on the collector, 1(-)on the pot-base, and 4(+) on the emitter.
It all comes down to coil layout, which is why a set of detailed diagrams for each possible fan coil config folks have come across would be very useful.
I used 12V 700ma supply, NTE125 diodes, 2N3055 transistor, 10Kohm wire-wound linear taper 10-turn pot, and a Delta AFB1212HE fan.
I edited Imhotep's stator to show how mine looks, and where the wires run.

all these fans could have different magnetic structures. i am glad someone has run into an odd magnet structure and are sharing results thank you for the additional info it all helps future experimenters
