heres a little tip to reduce amp draw for those who have a solidstate coil. Measure the ohms of your power strand and try to match the ohms to the primary of the ignition coil. In my case I put 9 ohms of resistance on it (it is 1 ohm or so) to match the 10 ohms strands. Amp draw dropped from 300 to 220ma with no difference in light output. I can drop this further, but lights dim. Anything less than 100 ma isnt really useable, unless you have no light at all
I think Lid or Bodkins did this earlier with the Rheostat in the circuit. Same sort of idea anyway.

Lidmotor, you know no body has been able to get the RE/Bedini stuff out there, in practical applications, john has only got his chargers,(wont sell his house power system from energy from the vacuum) so it is up2 to us to make these practical applications, i never thought i would see them emerge so fast, guys with out your efforts do you think this technology will be in use?
Amazing results Lid, and all. We are not far behind with our solid state one, you know all the farmers would like to use this for emergency lighting, but its what this stuff unlocks that is important, collective open source results,THAT NOT EVEN THE PROPRIETARY inventors can match!(yet)
I tried to look up a course in Imhotep, Lid's Ren's and others and couldn't find any in the mainstream faculties, looks like they are behind the times! Tesla would be smiling today

Thanks for the link, the site seems to have other interesting items. The LMD test is nothing new though. I have been playing with LMD networks myself for many months now.
They are definitely a good alternative to getting a real AC generator for any experiment. Resonant frequency is pretty sensitive and varies based on the number of networks and the LC values.
I've also noticed that the output is proportionate to the input power so more juice you feed in, higher the voltage at the output. In the original experiment by BSRF they used an audio amplifier, while I have only used plain square wave generator so far. Never the less getting 180Vrms at 100KHz is decent output, maybe I'll write a page about all this one day...

Finished cap pulser
Thanks to everyone who helped me --I finished the cap pulser today and installed it into LB. It's done and it works great. More time is needed to really understand how to get the most out of it. I also got my Bedini Fan to work with the lunch box circuit and that was fun. @ all. I hope my contributions havent distorted the path of this thread. I built the charger/light incorporating the things I knew already and what I had on hand. I dont have alot to contribute to the relayed version, infact I didnt have much luck in getting it to run reliably without the BeeZZ. I wont post anymore on the Bedini conversion, I feel there is enough information for anyone who may want to replicate/modify.
I am happy with my results, useable light and charging with as little as 2 watts input. The cap pulser was employed for specific reasons, some of which may become apparent as people progress.
I encourage anyone replicating whether by SS or relay to conduct scientific load tests on the charged battery, an increase in voltage doesnt always equal a charged battery.

Imhotep's bedini fan conversion has me wanting to drive a single shaft through four of these fans, where one motor powers three generators, three phase output, testing series/parallel, looking for OU.i was not able to run relays directly off smaller computer fans without paralleling the outputs ,but the big fan is a monster .
Could also try splitting each fan's 4 coils into 2 pairs, parallel there first.

I have learned a lot from this thread, from the simple form using the relay method to the more complex setup. I see experimenters go in many directions trying to replicate and evolve according to their needs and capacity. Overall, this is a vibrant community.

SCR oscillator
Hi all,
I have been following this thread for quite some time and have built the circuit. Have tested both the 2n3055 and the mjl21194 and have been wondering if it would be even more efficient to use an SCR as the oscillator rather than a transistor. or some combination of SCR and transistor. I am no electronics person so i have no idea. Have been wondering whether some sort of hybrid b/w the bedini oscillator circuit and the following scr oscillator maybe worth checking out.

Thank you for turning around and going back to simplicity with the basic relay and an off the shelf pulser unit. I'm really interested to see details on that build. My Fan and cap pulser side projects (and the video posting of it) confused the people watching me. "Why was I doing that?" The basic project that you and Peter put forth, was to make a simple and efficient CFL light system with energy recovery---and design it so anyone could make it. That is why I got envolved. It was simple ,easy, and it worked. When I finish this cap pulser (hopefully today), I'm going to turn around and take one giant step backwards. I'll try hooking up a relay to my Bedini fan and see what happens.
this is a multi level project, some people will choose to go the simple route,which is ok .to make the relay reliable you have to do some tweeking and i have .mine has been running for days and will last a long time because i used silicon lube (like a motor's bearings uses oil to last longer than an hour) and current limited the contacts arcing to =no arcing.the light is in low light mode(2700/3=900 lumins) aprox.but is usable light.the current draw is low (long battery life) and the charging is good.(only use charging off the car coil.) i added a switch to boost the light to near full light output.high light mode (still using relay with additional current limiting)works great.there is also a switch to run the fan in recharge mode with no light ,then switch to high light mode using the charge battery off the fan to run the light and the source battery to run the fan and the third battery off the car coil for charging . also add in the solar panel for primary charging and you have a simple almost self sustaining fan and light (must use bigger fan ,i was not able to run relays directly off smaller computer fans without paralleling the outputs ,but the big fan is a monster .
i am still working out the simple scr (solid state off the shelf) version and will take peters advise .(never release till it works well) so i will release that circuit when it works well. (hint)i am sure if you look around walmart you will see a simple scr circuit that can be adapted.
solid state is a more complicated but very good way to go.and should be pursued.
ren and others have incorporated bedini circuit which takes more skills and i thank them for that.(much appreciated)
i hope it ok with john ,i do not know if its ok or not but if it is public domain circuit or permissable with john then all have just learned a valuable addition to this project
and if you have the skills or want to learn a new skill you will get much out of the more advanced version

I aggree we have moved off making light, recharging battery is bonus from this cuircit. Ren, Bodkins, and Agongon --- Thanks again with the help and explanations on how the electronics work. I gained alot of knowledge by building the cap pulser. It also forced me to do research on the internet and now I understand much more than I did a week ago. Ren I got one of those special circuit boards for the 555 timer yesterday and will be soldering it all together today. I recommend the bread board method that I used for anyone trying to figure out how the parts all work together before you start soldering and produce a disaster like my first attempt.

The MESS project
Ashtweth---The wife is gone for a week on a trip so I can stir things up around here and not have a problem.
