    ...You have the coils wired OPPOSITE each other to me. It took me quite a while to figure this thing out too and I did a LOT of research on it, a lot of research. I destroyed five or six fans in the process. In Imhotep's drawing I finally saw that the coils HAVE TO BE WIRED NEXT TO EACH OTHER.

    There is good reason for this too. There are TWO NORTHS AND TWO SOUTHS IN MOST OF THESE FAN'S MAGNET RINGS. Some fans have one north and one south only and they will run but slow. There are more surprises but you'll have to discover them for yourself.

    The first one is ALWAYS the hard one.

    I hope that what I THOUGHT I SAW is actually what I DID SEE and it helps out some.

    Do you have a meter to check your continuity?
    If you do check both coils to make sure you dont have a broken wire and to find the right ends for your coil.

    Then wire it up agine and if it still dont work switch the wires around going to the coils.
    Only change one set at a time or one side of the coil.
    Then try it if that dont work put it back the way it was and then change the other wires around.

    here's the part that i find odd with everything disconnected and just the 4 wires running out of the fan i can't actually get the fan to run it just fires up one side and i get no spin i have tried many ways to get it to spin but nothing could it be that my fan is just broken... i will be checking to see if my diodes are correct but i believe the white strip is in the same location as it is in the vid

    John you could try that out if you like. I believe you have the little brushless motor rewired yes? She is a beaut. You could try all kinds of phase experiments with that one.

    The photos werent really good enough resolution for me to make much out of them. But I'd say be sure you don't have a diode backwards.

    As far as the different color wires on the stator goes I just assumed that the darker wire was one coil and the lighter colored wire was the second coil.

    hey Imhotep, and others that could help

    I found your tutorial for how to build a Bedini motor out of a computer fan and well I have about 200 of them at my house so I decided that was a good place to start.. I don't know if i just didn't understand the tutorial correct but i think i wired something wrong and I can't seem to get it to work. So I would like to submit 3 photos to you in hopes that you may see what my problem is. I don't have any batteries that could be used for this so I am using 2 things to check for power one is a car battery charger putting out12v the other is a computers power supply that I can get a 5v and a 12v line out of neither one will fire up the electro magnet with the circuit complete but it will fire it up with the power connected to just the 4 wires running off the coil. my coil has 2 different colors of wires on it that I am guessing represent the 2 different gauges of wire (not sure what one is what) but in my photos the coil 1 + and - are coming off each end of the darker red wire and the coil 2 + and - are coming off each end of the lighter copper wire.

    I think I have the wiring right for this but it's not firing any help would be great.... oh and I do not have a charge battery at this point as I don't have any batteries right now I don't know if that could be the cause

    Just a quick thought. If the fan motors are running with a flux ring of bipolar magnets what's happening when the south pole crosses the field coil and core? A revers polarity EMF? If a bridge rectifier was substituted for a standard diode, could it customize the charge cycle to include an additional pulse from the non used south pole magnet? OK, Or what if one of the four legs had a bifiler wind and the one 180 degrees opposite with or without. The other two legs could be wound as a separate standard charging circuit with a bridge, or maybe reverse wound and triggered on the south side magnet.

    Hello Imhotec. I've built and experimented with a small monopole. After seeing the fan video and information I decided to try a slightly different version. First off let me mention that I design brushless motors for R/C aircraft. This being said I have a bushel basket full of parts from office machines that might work successfully. Some of the stators from these motors are as big as 80 mm diameter and the magnets inside the flux ring are 8 poles. OK I wrapped one leg of the 12 leg stator with a bifiler wind. I was able to get only 150 turns to fit on the leg, but that was enough. My trigger circuit did not require an additional resistor. The motor ran smooth but a little slow. I removed the magnets and replaced them with 4 neo's. The motor runs extremely smooth and produces a 200 volt charge on a capacitor. I would like to try utilizing some of the other legs of the 12 leg stator. I'm wondering if I should try putting the other windings in parallel or winding them in series. I would likely try 4 coils. This would give me a 600 turn configuration with the legs being 90 degrees appart. Much like a fan motor. I'm thinking, since I already have one leg wound with a trigger coil, I may not need to duplicate the trigger on the other 3 legs. Do you think I might be on the right track? I think the output from this type motor is much higher than the standard monopole. If I'm able to optimize the use of the hardware configuration, I'll post some test results.

    HI and wellcome.

    I play around with Caps at the Circuit,
    and put a poled Cap between + and - from Batterie lets the Source run longer, and motor runs some smoother anyhow.
    I got a slight bigger Motor, but from a Fan too, and it runs from a 9V Batt slow.

    With the Pot you adjust allready the Frequency of both Coils, imho, by me both runs allways at the same Frequency.
    At adjusting the Pot, when you turn it higher, it trows more Volt back, when you have set it to low, it eats more Amps from the Source, and make probatly a Short at the Source, when there is to much backflow to minus.

    But i think anyway, your #17 is maybe to dead, to get a good load.
    Dead Batteries at the Charge can make a sllight Short too for the Source, what will waste the Energie of the Source
    For adjusting the Pot, its maybe the best, you get a bulb between C and E at the Transistor,
    let the Fan get speed, and turn the Pot higher and lower, and watch, where the Bulb lights best.
    On my other Motor, i have to turn the Pot higher, and when the Motor has speed, i can turn it a bit lower, the motor still keeps the Speed, but its closer at the higher Amp draw.
    John Bedini says, you need to adjust the Pot to highest Rpm and lowest Amp draw.
    But maybe you replace your chargebatt for an other, some are hard to load, and i think even normal Batteries have her limits at loading, when something makes inside a Short.

    I built and tested the Imhotep-Bedini SG Motor.

    I have nearly twenty, nine-volt batteries at various stages of 'decay'. I numbered each battery, measured the voltage directly, measured the maximum voltage across a one-ohm resistor in parallel and called this the amperage, multiplied these two numbers together, (wattage,) for each battery, and recorded it all in a spreadsheet... yawn.


    I selected the three most powerful batteries, (#11, #13, and #16,) and used these in series as the 'source' battery to charge my weakest battery, #17. (The fan would not spin with one or two source batteries alone.)

    I ran the test for one hour and tested the same four batteries in the same way. My data is embedded in the image below.


    I am wondering if scoping the operating frequency range and placing two caps 'somewhere' in the circuit designed to resonate with the two pairs of motor coils at that frequency would vastly improve the efficiency,... or not. Anyone ever try this?

    Check out the slayer007 pulse generator thread, there's a guy there who posted videos of a computer power box bedini fan who got it to self run. All the parts came from the pc power box..
