    nother quick update. the fan is spinning up faster now but there is one thing that i c now. if i take the power off the charging battery, then it buggers up the pot. y would this b?

    sorry had 2 step out 4 a litbit. just 1 thing 'p' is primary (Drive) and 's' is secondary (charge)?

    I'm not sure... how do you mean 360? I've modified 4 different fan models and they have all worked with their original windings.

    no no and no!!! i do think something was wrong with my circuit, will have 2 start it from the begining (do yr neons have shrink wrap around its legs or is it just the bulb . that resister that i was talking about, was hidden under the shrink wrap, so i took it out)

    ok i think it is time 2 look @ this from the begining. here is the hardware, (oops 4got the battery's) can u wire it up 4 me? till now, i was testing without a battery 2 charge, (if i have 2 use 1 then i will, got a dead 1 2 hook up)
    when i get it 2 run, then i would like 2 add a separate winding 2 trigger, and use both original windings 2 do the work?

    That is really weird... if there is 1 ohm between the + and the casing then the fan should jump if you short the casing with the emitter

    If it doesn't then I'm stumped... sorry.

    There is only one resistor, limiting transistor current - in the base. There is no resistor on emitter - if I follow you. One more thing crossed my mind - reverse wires of one coil - switch them.
