If the 'cheap' caps are ceramic then they are low capacity. The oscillator would need to run at a very high frequency to keep up with the power demand from the water spark plug circuit. My present combo of CDI Cap and frequency is actually about 36 Watts at the hi freq (high RPM) end of things. A dinky cap circuit would not be able to provide that power throughput at the oscillator's low freq. I'd normally agree with you but this is a 'power' circuit not an audio circuit.

Below is a pic of the board, awaiting the transformer, and the heat sinks are not on the transistors yet. I am also going to use computer fans in both ends of the project box to make it a wind tunnel.
Here is the schematic. If you look at circuit you’ll see auto generator with secondary voltage about 400V then bridge rectifier and than T112-16-10 and then after C2 is output to ignition coil. Only difference is- this 400V impulse is going in to the primary of ignition coil. Dear friends! Please make Your MPG tests! If there is NO GAIN, then your job goes to nonsense.
