I really didn't need to know anything in particular about them. Like you said, it's easy enough to look into and see most of what's going on, and anything I can't see I can use a multimeter to figure out. I just kind of like data sheets and was wondering if there was one for this switch that gave general information, like current ratings and dimensions and such in case I ever need to replace this one or want to build another unit. Well, that and I'm going to have to figure out how to connect the switch to both efie's. I always prefer to have as much knowledge about anything as I can.

Yeah, I did get the parts sheets and they were very helpful. In fact, the only thing you've done wrong as far as I can see is to make it so that if I screw things up, I have to live with the knowledge that I'm not as skilled as an 8 year old girl.

I really think she is a natural! All I made her do was practice on 2 boards until she could put down one little pad droplet. Then I put in 1 part at a time for her and she soldered them in one at a time!

Rotary switch & enclosure questions

Got the EFFIE package very nice!

Thinking about how to best run my controls back to the cabin...
-Thinking of using a 26ga cat 5 type com wire 4 pair to wire out my board. What do you think of
a. orange pair bypass switch
b. other 3 pair for 6 position switch for rotary selector contols
from that is there any sequence recomended for contacts? Blue, Green, Brown pairs.

-Mounting board in enclosure in engine compartment. Any environmentals to suggest?
Should the little light be in the cabin for visuals. If so I guess the whole thing should be in the cabin of my rig.

Kit not working for me...

I wish I had ordered the kit with the pre drilled board. I fat fingered this thing. Red I need to order a pre drilled board for this EFIE.

Dont want to install this and fry my ECN or Sensor!

To everyone else. Once I receive the kits from RedMeanie, I will start off by making a step by step (pictures too) of each component as it gets built. This way we will all learn together as this thing evolves. The installation and adjustment write-ups will be a bit broader in perspective as each vehicle is different, but the concept and basic hookups should be the same. Any contributions to these write (including information borrowed from other peoples write-ups) will be properly credited.

Since Redmeanie put these kits together so well and with great documentation, I ended up going with a companion manual idea for the PWM & Fuel Mixture Controllers to keep redundancy down The first draft is complete and sent off to Redmeanie for review/additions/corrections etc.

EFIE Tuning....

Everyone that is building the EFIE that I sent the "Mixture Control" Document to use this one instead until Tux and I can rewrite it. I already know how to calibrate it, so I had Mira try, and well lets just say the instructions I sent (I didn't write those ) were less than user friendly.
So I have a copy of Patrick Kelly's rewrite, these are allot clearer, and based on the design that the Controller I offer was based on. So just disregard the schematic because it's different, but DO EVERYTHING ELSE the same!

EFIE Insight......

After Careful Consideration, and experience with this device I have some insight on what I believe are important things to "Consider" with these devices.

1) The Warm up time for the EFIE with the 470UF Capacitor is about 3 mins. This is a safety buffer for your "Booster" to generate a reasonable amount of HHO. If
However you don't need that much time you can cut the Warm Up time down to about 1 minute by changing this to a 100UF Capacitor.

2) Instead of Mounting the LED in the Board, run wiring so it can be mounted somewhere where it's visible. This will let you know when it's flashing on and off that your ECU is actually staying in closed Loop.

3) I know I provide them, but I would like to see everyone switch the rotary to a Rocker switch that is SPDT for single Efie's and DPDT for Dual Efies. The reasoning is all the settings are not needed. And they are wasted on the Rotary. Set one for "City" and one for "Highway". This is straight forward, no room for mistakes and the Rocker Switch is much more durable. I feel this should be done once you are comfortable with the EFIE and understand how it functions.

4) All adjustments need to be made "WITHOUT" HHO Running! Or I would just recommend picking a conservative "Toggle Point" During Bench Testing and leave it there until you are sure you can take it down a notch. Start around 400mV this is 1 step lean from stoich. Then you have the 6 adjustments to choose from that basically alter the signal out in 50mV increments.

Oh Yeah and.....

do I have to notice any changes in driving/acceleration using the EFIE without a HHO booster? It is just that today I made a trip to a near town that is about 10 miles away. I drove these 10 miles with the EFIE set to full rich and then I went back the same route with the EFIE set to max lean position. Did not feel any difference. But then again I am not sure that my car doesn't have any other problems, because my Toyota Yaris consumes 7.7 l/100km, that is too much for a car this small. I remember that a few years ago the fuel consumption was about 5.5l/100km. I have already changed all the things I can change - all the filters (air,fuel,oil) and the oil itself. Will bring the car for diagnostics next week. Maybe there is something different wrong that makes the car consume more fuel that the EFIE can not affect.

I set the switch to full rich position (pin 10), put a 500mV voltage source to the input and then adjusted the VR1 so that the LED comes on. When this was done, I could switch to other leaner positions and the LED was still ON. So, again in the full rich position and 500mV input, I adjusted the VR2 so that the voltage on the output (to computer) was 1V. This is all like in the instructions. So instead of 1V, I need to adjust this VR2 to get 425mV on the output? This will be lower than the input. Did I understand right?
