Another Replication

Hi Folks,

I finished my Water Spark circuit today, and Aaron came over to my shop and filmed me doing a simple walk-through and demo. As soon as Aaron edits the footage, he'll put it up on YouTube and put a link to it in this forum.

I charge a 47uf capacitor to about 140 volts DC using a variac, dropping resistor and full-wave-bridge rectifier. Then I completely disconnect the cap from the charging source and discharge it through the primary of the ignition coil. The Radio Shack relay is operated by a simple 555 timer circuit to vary the relay operation from 1 Cycle Per Second to about 15 CPS on a variable potentiometer. The cap has less than .6 Joules of energy in it per discharge. The HV diode is connected across the HV secondary of the ignition coil, between the High Voltage + and the Low Voltage + of the coil.

All schematics for the complete circuit and the 555 timer circuit are given so others can easily build a circuit that produces the effect reliably.

I show three different effects. First, just the spark from the capacitor discharge. Then, the spark WITH the HV diode connected. And finally, the spark with the HV diode connected igniting water sprayed at the spark plug.

I do not claim to understand WHY this happens. I built this circuit to STUDY the effect.

IMHO, we need more circuit builders in this thread, and less theoretical guessing about what this is. Build a unit. Run the experiment. Live in the presence of the phenomena and think about what you are seeing. This is what will open up new insights. Nothing else!

circuit functioning

Hi Boguslaw and eveyrone,

S2 is open because when closing it, the capacitor is shorted through the coil to itself and the cap slowly drains until nothing left. It takes a little bit of time, which wouldn't make a difference if charging and discharging rapidly but on an isolation circuit...s1 and s2 are 2 contacts on a relay so easy enough to do.

Closing 2 switches at the exact same time...yes possible in concept but probably not going to happen EXACTLY...unless we have some nano-quantum switches. lol ..however...a DPDT relay to discharge the cap is closing 2 switches at the same time that is close enough for practical use.

Anyway for testing purposes so that people can actually realize that the LV potential is already all over the circuit anytime the diode is connected to the + on the cap and if S2 is connected...the cap goes down.

Anyway, the potential itself is instantaneous on all parts of the circuit it is touching...and that does happen before a cap can discharge into primary and have primary send out hv. So the LV potential already leads the HV.

For simplicity of building this circuit...the input of the diode can simply be connected directly to the + on the input coil. Then when s1 is closed from cap....the diode will already be connected to the cap. Also, it might make it easier to see unclear answers as to what is happening, maybe.

From some of the testing, examination, analysis, speculation that Peter and I were doing in the short time I had today...we already know for sure it has nothing to do with LV jumping across the gap after the HV...another thing we know for sure...is that there is more than meets the eye. It is a phenomenal effect because it appears it *may* be demonstrating effects that people have been looking for by other methods.

Anyway, it is a fun circuit and there are 2-3 highly probable specific means by which this effect is really happening and a couple more less probable ways. One thing for sure is that the HV diode does shut off when the HV diode's output side voltage exceeds the input side...that is one of the primary functions of a diode. When that happens, by one of several possible mechanisms of shutting it off...stuff happens.

Hi folks,

As you may already know, there is a new video posted by S1r9a9m9 that shows him taking apart the 3-coil transformer that was inside the tin container shown in his previous 2 YouTube videos of the 18 hp Briggs and Stratton generator engine running on water. You can see the video at:

I spent the past several days working on some diagrams based upon my own analysis of S1r's transformer, which I based upon a close-up view of S1r's transformer photo. It appears that I have it right, and that the diagram drawn up by Xbox Hacker (from waterfuel1978 Yahoo group) was incorrect in that the leads of the third coil in his diagram are reversed from the actual connection. You can see my 3 analysis diagrams in a single pdf file, which shows how each coil is added, wound, and connected, at:

If you click the page advance button (at the bottom of the pdf document) you can quickly see how the coils are wound, layered, and connected. The only difference between my diagrams, and what I saw in S1r's take-apart video is that there was no insulation visible to prevent the main coil (a bare, solid 14 gauge copper wire) from making contact with the galvanized nail used as the core.

Interestingly, Capacitor70 has now released a new video (as a response to the S1r video) of a circuit using no diodes, but an isolation transormer coil and additional spark gap instead. That video can be seen at:

For his video, Capacitor70 used 30 turns in each of the transformer coil windings. He says he is making a new transformer in a different ratio and with fewer windings, and that he expects better results. I would agree with his outlook.

Hi Ash,

From a few vids, the spark does give motive push to engine parts and even a marble. I used a copper tube slipped over the plug ground to see if there was any push.

It appears the effects splits, ignites and reassembles the water in one pulse.

Split the Thread...

Hi Folks,

Just a thought here. There seem to be two things happening in this thread. The first is the GoToLuc circuit for creating a plasma spark and igniting water directly. Then there is the S1R "nail coil" for enhancing the spark of an ordinary ignition system so an engine can burn water as a fuel. While these two ideas SEEM to be related, I think they are TWO DIFFERENT approaches to the "water-as-fuel" goal, and I think the physics of the two situations is very different.

Since the GoToLuc circuit definitely WORKS to ignite water, I would like to see this thread continue to study this phenomena and the work on S1R's methods moved to another thread, so that people are not confused by the information as it comes in.

Do any of you think this is a good idea?

Main winding must be not insulated I think. There are also not clear for me exactly directions of each coil.Clockwise or counter clockwise - it is critical to use proper direction. As I remember one of the coils must be wound from inside to outside.
