Coil question

Hi All,

Sorry to ask such a newbie question, but every time I wind a coil it ends up being a south pole coil. So for the record, which way should the wind be starting from the left, turn the spool towards you (anticlockwise) or away from you (Clockwise)?

hi there , yer just grab a battery radio ,set to AM hold near battery or coil then tune radio frequency to you here the motor pulses coming through . its just a sound reference to help you know if its firing or not, plus when you are ajusting your trigger you can hear different pitches

2. You need to replace the battery in your multimeter with a charged one.

I bought another Digital Multimeter and another battery replacement for my old Multimeter...and the old problem gone...the multimeter still good...and the old battery showing 5.67 Volt (should be 9 V).

First I like to thanks to you all for helping and answering my question about SSG...

I'm learn much from you all. And I'm sorry if in my post not so clear because English is not my first language.

My background is Mechanic and Hydraulic system which far away from this stuff. But everything always has first to start so I'm ready to learn from very basic.

When first I see about Bedini SSG from internet, I'm so happy because this device will answer my few problem. In our place electricity is very expensive and difficult to get. Many people around me is using Battery to Lighting their home at night because their house far away from electric facilities. We have plenty of Coal and big Oil company in our town but that not for us.

I'm learning this SSG not just for learning / Hobby or Fun, But really for do something for my environment. People here charge their Battery with convensional Battery charger and normally they should pay about 4$ to get Full charge. But as you know the battery will slowly not longer live, then they drain the old liquid (which not very good for our environment), wash with hot water and then fill with new liquid then recharge again. That habit is there before I'm born.

Now..already 4 months I'm playing with this stuff and still try find better setup.

Again I like to thanks to you all for your sharing knowledge with me....
Any other suggestion are welcome.

Yes, wrap the coil pretty tight and wrap both wires together...both the trigger and power wire together.

The pic below shows how to wrap the coil so that when you put + at the top and - at the bottom, you will get a NORTH field at the top of the coil. As long as the wire at the top is coming off the coil towards you from around the right side and the bottom wire is coming off the coil towards you from around the left side and you put + and - as shown, you will get a NORTH field at the top.

I like to start with the wires coming off the bottom of the coil poking off from the left side pointing at me. Then, I wrap upwards and down up and down up and down and I try to end at the very top...that is just to prevent confusion, you could of course end them both at the top and both at the bottom, but this makes it simple.

If you wind the coil like that you get the north field when a battery is attached to the coil. Then if you take a permanent magnet and put a face towards the coil like this, it will repel if you are facing the north of the magnet to the coil. If you have south facing coil, it will suck to the coil when the coil is powered.

Battery hook up

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone could comment on their experience with charging multiple batteries. As in which is better parralel or series, does one charge faster than the other(s). Stuff like that.

I like series myself, but.... much depends on the driving voltage.

My auto battery swapper uses parallel which has some advantages because all of the target batterys have the same voltage when they make it to the primary side, the disadvantage of charging with parallel is that the weakest battery will drag the others down unless you use a diode to the positive terminal of each of the target batteries. Series does not have this problem, however you must be careful about the total voltage both on the primary and charging side does not add up more than what your transistor is rated for.

It has been done with the Halbach Array method and several other methods in a vacuum in some electromechanical batteries.

Hi,

Has anyone used Neos for their SSG, I wanted to know how much air gap did it require to have a smooth operation. I am designing a new SSG but this time I am going to use strong Neo magnets, but I had no idea how much airgap would be preferable? I recall that Mart had used Neos for his SSG. What about 10mm?

I am currently using neos only. The trick is to get something you can get around the coil so it does not move, because the spacing is very exacting, from the coil to the magnets on the wheel. If you get too close the core will heat up and you are waisting energy, and if the coil is too loose the vibration will slam your coil into the magnet when it turns at high speed.

What I am currently using is clothes line, I drill holes into the board and I use slip knots to make 2 loops around my coil. I put foam under the coil to

I have also found that size of the magnet is a MAJOR part of the equation.

What I do to set it to optimal performace is simply to put the coil out about 1
inch away and spin up the wheel. I keep moving in till I hit the highest RPM of the wheel ( best to use 12V, not 24 for this as it is a bit safer at over 3,000 rpm ) Then I take note of is the coil heating up? If so I back it off again. and then do a sweep with the pot to tune for the best charging of my target battery.

I find what works best for this is a bad battery that jumps up in voltage quickly. I put a volt meter on it and then start adjusting the neo till the bad battery shoots up the highest amount. This seems to me to be a good indication of highest charge rate. I am sure others have used the neo or a light bulb on the discharging side, these work as well.

This is my method and I am charging Golf cart batteries with this system, so far 1 amp is doing a fair job of charging 2 of them to 12.4 to 12.8V which is very good for sulfated batteries. And do note these are 200 Amp hour golf cart batteries, I can pull 2 Amp from one set of these for well over 36 hours and not hurt them at all.

I hope that I am not messing up the process of creating super charged batteries with using neos... but from my scope I sure do get a spike that I cannot get a radar fix on!.... It is very faint but it goes off scale.

Again if you work with neo be careful. Two neos that jump and hit one another with such force can create a fair degree of shrapnel!.

I found this out with my smaller hard drive magnets, I am glad I did not find out with my big magnets.

Using Neo's

I used neo's for a while, but I found that they have too much back drag due to their power. I'm not sure about your setup, but I found that the most efficient spacing for me was between 5 and 10mm from the coil core, depending on the coil.
