      Got my DVD.

      Hi Brian,

I received my DVD last Friday and watched all the movies the same day. The coil winding is well explained and innovative. Reminds me a little of the alternator used in the 70's by Chrysler corporation.

I'll try your design but will make it air cooled. Slots in the stator core and the air will be exhausted in the lower back portion after passing through the coils.. The stator will suck in air from the front (little fan in the front cap driven by the rotor shaft) and exhaust from the lower back section. The propeller will be built like "The DaftMan Windmill Project" found on YouTube.

Even if I made many alternators, radial and conventional, I found your way to be much simpler and probably just as good.

Worth the money I paid for, Thanks.

        And word for spelling control.?

        Why?
I may have phrased my question to you improperly...

I was asking only about the X/Y graphs only.

I suspected an external two channel USB inexpensive osciloscope,
first channel tracking the voltage directly to the input,
then the second channel on a shunt for current tracking.

and lastly a tachometer application on the soundcard
with a hall effect pickup sensor or coil with a magnet
to give the third axis of RPM to graph the three.

But I was unaware of an app. that would integrate an o-scope's trace pair,
with a secondary input from a second app to produce a three-factor plot.

Please tell me you didn't just plot it manually into a graph as dots,
only to connect the dots manually (after) in paint or something

Thank you for clarification. Nice work.

If there were magnets ontop of the housing too would they need to be opposite polarity or the same?

                Cheers

They would be opposite the ones directly on the other side ( N inner S outer ) or attracting. The outside rotor would have to spin with the internal rotor. This would make a more powerful alternator but... it would also add a considerable amount of complexity to the design.

                    Hello lechancel

                    Thanks for the complement.

About the brushless motors, I did not build a motor yet whit the winding.
Others did test it as a motor, it worked fine in a test setup.
The winding is a new idea, if you gone build a BIG brushless motor you are probably the first on the planet!

                      Hello Soundiceuk and Dragon

My first presumption was (n-n z-z)
but Dragon build much more generators then I have.
I am gone test the same thing you want to do, I am gone make the outer rotor out of 2 pipes (dont know the material yet) so I can shift the magnets from position, so I can test both ways.
It is a problem to build and also how do you cool de winding?

                        Hi Brian,

Heating is a problem with all alternators, especially if their going to be driven hard. The best cure is to build them so they are very efficient - that is... use as large of wire as physically possible to fit within the design. Passing 1 amp through a 30 awg wire will get very hot and most likely destroy itself. Passing 1 amp through a 20 ga wire will get warm but not cause any problems. As you move up in wire size the heating problem disappears - unfortunately - so does the space needed for the amount of turns to achieve a certain voltage and usually becomes a compromise for voltage or efficiency.

Making an outer rotor for your unit is going to create a few challenges but it can be done. Since the outer rotor magnets will be attracted to the inner rotor magnets there is no real need to make these a direct coupling as they will "lock up" on their own and simply follow. Also makes a nice non contact transmission if the magnets weren't so expensive...

Here is a small 3 phase radial air core I built several years back...

Pretty much an open design and 20 gauge wire was used to keep the heating problem down. It only produces around 50 watts and can easily be enclosed. I tried to make it as simple as I could but it still requires a bit of skill in building it. And another single magnet 3 phase built on triangle end pieces...

This one isn't very powerful but will light LED's quite nicely...

Anyway, post a picture of your double rotor radial alternator when it's completed... love your work !

                          Flat Magnet Wire

I wonder if Flat Magnet Wire can make the end bend in this stator this would insure straight winds and allow more winds

I am finishing up a large alternator that has 16 1"X 2"block magnets with a pulling force of 144lbs and a #14 ga for the armature. but the armature is 5" so it may add some drag due to the diameter of the armature, but more wingdings because of the size, it is equivalent to 6 standard coils with 100 turns so still allot of copper, I will be strapping it to the CartMotor this week of I will let you know

                            Hi Brian,

I just purchased a download of your tutorial just know, will check it out tonight.

                            TU Delft, he?
That is a 8 minute drive from me

I am curious what more inventions you have.

                            Greetings,
                            Raymundo

Purchased my DVD - Really excellent!

Congrats on a well done DVD ! You are a very good teacher and the generators look easy to build! A very novel coil topography that is simple to understand.

This was well worth the money. Thanks for making it available!

                                Cheers,
