This is an interesting thing, I wonder why I haven't seen anybody experiment with this idea. A gyroscope obviously exerts an upward force when we force it to change its angle of rotation.

Good video, esp. the parts on magnetic levitation. I particularly like the little yellow gyroscope levitating in mid-air.
The man holding the gyroscope over his head is Eric Laithewaite, British scientist and inventor of the Linear Electric Motor and the Mag. Lev. train. You can read about him here;
