I'm not referring to your circuit in particular;but I have to thank you for your assistance.
My 555 driver works great with little mosfets having only 100 ohm in series with the output of the IC, but it is not able to trigger the base of the 2N3055 (my transistor is working;I checked it).I think its is a problem related to the manufacturer of the IC or the transistor.As you know there are many different industries that produces the same thing....

LidMotor Your Work on this Light thing is out standing and i DO think you should be called Saint Lid!!!
I took your idea one step further and made a charging circuit. I used the 555 timer CFL "Mini Box"and the "Blue Plate Special" circuit. Lit up a bunch of LEDs!!!

This morning I ran outside after I saw your post Byjove but all the the lights were gone. Santa had taken them all down and gone on his merry way.
