This looks totally real to me, and then again we also have Allen Burgess telling us about his own experiences with seeming spinning magnetic fields, so I'm all on board with being real and working. He says it takes a lot of fiddling at times. All things considered what is amazing is that it works and works with the materials he's used.
Alexey Chekurkov is also using two independent electric motors, but one could use the gear box differential/Sun Gear's from an R/C car/truck to drive two plates in opposite directions using a single motor, or here is the coaxial helicopter arrangements. Until we know otherwise I'm going to assume we want the two plates spinning at the same relative speeds in opposition. It's probable these unpredictable effects which Alexey mentions may be sourced from variations in the spin rates of the two independent electric motors. A similar arrangement was first tried in tanks with both electric and gasoline motors but of course this left a lot to be desired. That kind of freedom of independence in a rotorcraft would spell instant disaster. The fact that what Alexey has built, and has also gotten to work as well as it does work; well it's somewhat mind boggling all things considered, and I think this shows there's evidently a lot of leeway in the dynamics of operation.
I know Sputin's knows this already, but I want to point out that you don't have to use all metal construction here either, you could use wood/plywood or G10= fiberglass plate for framing. Wood is completely reasonable and shouldn't be looked upon as inferior. It's easy to work with and bearing blocks can be used for mounting shafting. There have been model helicopters whose frames were wood. Just wanted to point out the options so mind controlling mental blocks don't stop people from being creative. Alexey basically used scrap metal to make his machine. If the plates with the magnets were better balanced it would almost certainly help as the one's in the video don't appear especially well balanced. Also using a non~metal frame prevents the magnetic/dielectric fields from possibly interacting with other metals, and which could also be inducing vibration and other unknowns, so that too would also be revealing and helpful.
Please post your thoughts or ideas including why this can't work, why it does work, what else could be improved on, control systems, sketches, ect.
Hopefully this is just the start of whole new chapter and here I was just a day ago feeling dejected and ready to abandon ship.

Ya never know what the Sun rise will bring.
