Well-spoken, THX. I completely agree. Cultures, languages and accompanying moral values are being swallowed up in the vast overcrowded urban areas. In my work and travels, I have seen many people forced to relocate from ancestral lands into the cities. There is money to be made, but also the greater risk of losing one's identity, one's soul.

The madness cannot last, and perhaps one day soon, our landscapes will be once again buzzing with people on small farms, in small villages, trading their goods and helping one another out. Perhaps by our trading of ideas and work for the betterment of humanity on this forum, we can be forerunners of the rebirth of civilization from this urbanized dark age.

There is no shortage of water and there is more than we conceive. A recent study (I couldn't find the link) said there is 2 to 3 times more water in the mantle of the earth than there is in all the oceans. That, does not, however, make it accessible.

The shortage is of potable water and the general cause of that is simply ignorance. Society has developed a sense of dependency so most people are dependent on others to acquire their water. They have no idea what is involved in delivering water to their faucet. Nor can they even conceive of the prospect that they could collect water for themselves in some manner other than going to a store and buying it.

I was in a pharmacy several years ago and mentioned the drought that was occurring out at my rural property had dropped the aquifer to a level that the submersible pump was no longer in the water. The cashier just looked at me and asked, "What does that mean?" like I was speaking Martian. For him, I guess I was.

Potable water is only a problem for those who live in the urban areas which, I guess, is why TPTB have an ongoing global program to move people from rural areas to cities so they can increase that dependency and therefore their control.

Divided by the worlds surface area every square meter which is exposed to the sun receives 1.125 Kw continuously. Over a twelve hour period this is about 48,600 Kw- hours. Regardless of where you live I doubt you'd want to pay for it !

Looks like 13.5 KWh by my math. About a buck fifty from my utility company here in the midwest USA.

Lead acid battery electrolyte is roughly 60% water and it is recommended to use distilled water. Where does this fourth state of water occur? At the interface between between the water and a hydrophilic material.

When you start looking for hydrophilic materials up pop sulfides and the electrolyte is water and sulfuric acid. Interestingly, titanium dioxide (TiO2) pops up again also.

seems we are fighting to learn and focus on something that is just beyond the reach of each of us. That the pieces fit from so many different angles makes it ridiculous to think we are not padding about some thing important.

Not just us but all of mankind. Here's something I stumbled upon that is a new (2009) fundamental discovery about electricity. At first glance it doesn't appear relevant to our work but upon reflection it certainly does - dipoles spontaneously arranging themselves into positions where like poles face each other. Huh? Yeah, it goes against everything we think we know and in the process generates a huge electric field.

It's interesting on a couple of levels. The first is that something new was discovered about electricity in 2009. So when we get discouraged we can think about it and say, yes, there are still new things to be discovered. The second is that it was accidentally discovered. The people that discovered it were working towards something else and when they looked at their data they thought they had incorrect readings from their experiment but it turned out their data collection was correct. It's new enough and unique enough to require a new name for it - "spontelectric phenomenon".

At first glance I thought, well it only happens at very low temperatures (appx -200C) so that can't help us because we're looking for something easier to attain at ambient temperature or nearly so. I put it on the back burner in my head for a while and when I looked at it again "cold electricity" popped into my head.

Interestingly, it also requires thin films and works only with specific elements and compounds which kind of gets us back to crystals and crystal lattices.

I thought the reference to "water ices" might trip your switch - forget the "astrophysical".
