Hi, I'm new here.
Has anyone heard of a gaudian tube or a gaudian condensor.
and if you have, have you ever seen one in person or built one?
This is a form of negative and or positive ion detector.
The story...
I've been paying attention to Eric's work since early youTube releases, and by extention Aaron, who makes this all possible. The coolest thing in the beginning were the garrage experiments that, imp, proves the superluminal communication by measuring frequency shift of a remote signal. That was an aha for me.
Where I am, the weather has been extremely variable. I've been noticing that I have skin effects, not RF skin effects, but what seems like static effects on my skin and hairs. It's been going on for years. I'm just getting around to looking into it. It seems obvious, that there are 'charges' that change from day to day that seem to go with wind, sunlight, and other things in the atmosphere and a myriad of other things. I'm not thinking of electro smog, but the normal ebb and flow of the atmosphere. Then I thought I'd like a way to sense these things. The weather reports Barometric Pressure. Someimes, I feel the differences. but looking at local charges, seems out of reach. I weent to Amazon to see if there was a gizmo that measured these fields, but am unsure what exactly they are registering, is anybodies guess. There are some general use, enviromental sensors which claim to measure charges, but unless I understand the working principles, who knows what they are reporting. It seems reasonable to assume that ozone isn't the only ion around that has a charge.
What I have found are either very expensive analylitical instruments or crude devices that use leds as indicatore without regard to units, the intervals are indeterminnt. Something that is accurate and repeatable, without being precise will do. I was really hoping to find a sensor for an arduino like device, ready built or a kit, that I could plug in and record. No such luck. So, I'm on the precipise of a rabbit warren. I'm running into things that I do not yet understsnd. I'm making an assumption that a few people around here know something about static fields, on the order of vanDeGraff, or Whimhurst generators and top loads. Or RF and antennas, certainly electricity that doesn't necessarily travel in wires. And know something of the thing called 'ground'.
Due to the 'surveilance' issues of the day. This year, I noticed that it's possible to have a cell phone look look like it's turned off, but still be active. It it's active, then there are emmisions. if there are emmissions they can be detected. I thougt about a case or a device that I could put near my phone that would detect emissions if it was near the phone, such as in a case or the like. I found the Germanium diode / LED detector that is exactly what I saw on this site, earlier today. Over the last month or so, I' ve built a few of them with different diodes, but can't seem to get them to work. That then led me to buying different sets of diodes to see if that made a difference. Which leads me into component charactistics by IV curve tracing to determine if the germanium diodes actually trace like germanium diodes should. I'm making a spider that will allow me to clasify the diodes by Vf Ir and capacitance, to see if that makes a difference. I think my issues are antenna length. Not getting enough voltage and when these started out, cell phones, then, were at most 3g and not as well shielded. I remember hearing them on a pair of headphones. Thst doesn't happen any more.
I saw a video by Shhei Toth earlier today and I have some questions about his harvestor.
What is the operating frequency of the tesla coil on the table that seems to be the emitter for the harvestors.
What is the field strength of the signal at the antennae of the harvestors?
how long is the antenna?
In search of ions. some observations and conjecture.
it'seems obvious that opposite charges attract each other. So If i want to trap positive ions, I'd use a negative charge, and vice versa.
There is a voltage potential across antannae from base to tip. that is relative to a fixed point called a ground.
Top loads are capacitor plates. except round with no sharp points. Used in Tesla Coils, Van Der Graffs and whimhursts.
With High voltage in order to get an idea of how high the voltages are, the distance at which air breaks down and a spark forms, is an indicator.
Is there some kind of aparatus that will electronically read out the charge accumulated on a top load or the plate of a capacitor?
I'm not interested in making sparks, those would producce ions.
A fully charged topload, the load will dissipate over time, because of the annilation of airborn ions and charges. Is this correct?
The difference between the known charge and the charge after a time could indicate ion chafge difference. This is the measure I want. It dosn't need to be precise and absolute,
but enough to indicate a difference that is consistantly measurable. I'm thinking a gold leaf electometer.
There are three devices I've found for measuring 'charges and ions'
There is a rotating plate capacitor,
A very sensative jFet with a very high impedence resistor as an antenna
A gaudian tube or condenser, what I'm asking about now.
The tube has a charged inner rod, surrounded by a groundd cavity with a fan to draw atmosphere with ions over the rod.
The rod is charged to a the opposite polarity of the ions that are captured. The charge is detected with a femptoAmp detector.
The question is does anyone know anything about Gaudian Tubes?
Do you have one?
Have you made one?
Have you used one?
Am I looking at something which is easy to make?
or is it fussy?
Any and all comments welcome , thanks
