I am getting started with a build of a bicycle wheel Bedini SG based on the Intermediate handbook. I received parts from a colleague in the US (I am based in the Philippines). It contains all of the components, circuits, coils, magnets, wiring, etc to build. The goals are to be able to charge batteries, demonstrating it works as intended, demonstrate the working SG at the 2026 Philippine High School Nationals Science Fair (my stepson and classmates will be demonstrating), and perform experiments to improve its efficiency. I will post updates here on my progress. I welcome others to share their experience and ideas.

One of the first problems I need to address is mounting the bicycle wheel on a 9mm axle. The bearings and split-shaft stop collars are 9mm. I designed this adapter to do the job.Attached Files

The next problem I will need to address is accurately cutting the notches to receive double-stacked ceramic magnets in the wheel. See attachments for how the magnets will be attached.

I agree. The judges are sticklers for measurements. For this year's project, my stepson and classmates placed 2nd in the division (among 13 competing schools). It was based on Wimshurst Electrostatic Generators and converting the discharges into mechanical motion. See my recent article posted on Emedia Press' Blog entitled "Charged for Discovery: Reviving the Forgotten Science of Electrostatic Power" at: https://emediapress.com/blog/Originally posted by bill25 View PostTo make the science-fair project credible, plan ahead for actual measurements.
