  • daemonBart Nice ,thanks

    Slovenia

I found an importer in Chicago last night [big Serbian community there],I'm going to be out all day on the water {Stuck below deck] but when I get back tonight I'll try to contact them?
Seems like these 1/2 liter cans are imported into Canada also?
Thanks again for sharing your experience daemonbart.

I do believe sanding the can removes some coating also? [Boguslaw pointed this out].

    Thanks
    Chet

    • Nice to Hear

Thanks for your continued search for the cans.

Brake fluid or carburetor cleaner will remove the paint from the cans too. I'll be trying this soon and get back to everyone.

I have a power steering pump that's been a real pain trying to get it off my car to replace it out. It's at the bottom back of the engine where you can't get to it easily and/or reach retaining bolts.

      • Paint Removal from Can

Well, sad to say but I tried my carburetor cleaner and brake fluid on one of my cans to remove the paint and it didn't work at all. It didn't even phase the paint on the can. That is some tough paint. They've got some really tough coating on the cans to protect them evidently because the carburetor cleaner and brake fluid will take off car paint almost immediately. Anyway, I wanted to let you know those methods I offered do not work. Sorry!!

I then took a blow torch and tried to remove the paint with it and the can shriveled up almost immediately into an unusable material that had other not so cool properties. So don't use a blow torch either.

        • clean can?

Hello Slovenia. Did your siberian contact clean inside his can?

For those who don't know, inside of the cans is coated with a plastic called
Bi sphenal-a. Clearly this would make the can's inside non conductive.

By the way BPA is a female hormone and can effect masculinity in men and cause cancer in women.

Now if we knew what we were doing, using Stainless steel would make things a lot easier.

No, he only talked about sanding the outside of the can and the conductivity issue was never mentioned. Tuning of the can was the only reason given for sanding the can and paint removal was never discussed either.

Go to any larger USA town , which have Polish district or Polish shops and ask for Polish beer in 500ml aluminium can.
                Żywiec for example http://www.shopandgo.pl/public/image...1559140009.jpg

                      • Titanium Ring Material

I ordered my titanium ring material last night, so I'm looking forward to that getting here. I'm going to build a test boiler much taller than my first one, so that I can try out the longer cans. I'll soon be testing out the 200mm can. Anyway, it's fun having a few other fellows in the mix working on this experiment.

I'd like to see some other pics.

                          Chet,

They even give you a line to cut by at the top of the can. Very good find indeed.

                          Best Regards,

I'm a Tetley tea drinker myself but I can't wait to get my hands on some of those cans. I know it will work much better than gluing two cans together. Good Job!!

                              • Hi,

It is very hard for me to understand that you guys can not find a beer can 500ml in your country. In Serbia we have a lot of immport beer from all around the world. USA, Australia, Germany,Austria, Slovenia,Poland,... Their cans are apsollutly the same as the can of Deer Beer from Serbia. There is no can factory in Serbia. All cans for Serbian beer are imported. Reason why Mr C. used this can is because is Deer Berr is the most common beer in Serbia. There is no other reason.

                                Sorry for bad speling.

                                Cheers,
                                Dragan.
