Basic basic basic stuff... determing the best wire and wingdings for a coil.

Ok guys, I'm almost embarrassed to ask, but how do you decide how to wind a coil to get the most electricity out (in watts)? How do you determine wire size, # of winds, etc. to get the best results?

The limitation is the diameter of the coil. The length of the coil can be as long as needed.

Thanks in advance. You wont be disappointed. Albeit you hopefully wont realize why.

Hi shadesz, I've found the 'brooks' coil geometry to be the best.

Wire manufacturer have info on their site about maximum amperage for each wire size. Then you can calculete simply with voltage.
