There are few things that are free, like air and sunlight. The energy that is "free" from the Sun has little practical use for transforming it into other forms, mainly because there is not enough energy in the surface area to make it practical. Hundreds of acres in Florida were used to make the worlds largest solar "farm" that makes less than 5% of the KWH of a single Nuke on a few acres. This "farm" is the Eco/socialists dream! It costs millions, has no hope of a return on investment and can only come into existance through force and extorsion on those that know better.
As for the grid, from modern safe food handling to wonder drugs and hospitals, our lives have been made better by those that specialise, like the providers of the grid. The grid gives us energy far below what it would cost each of us to produce our own power, safely and reliable.
Each of us are FREE to deal or not deal with the grid, and I believe higher costs and more time would be required to get off the grid. So, what side would make you more of a slave?
PS, Will anyone out there prove a causal relationship between the so called "Carbon footprint" and any form of climate change? Please!!! Just 1 shred of evidence, for once would be nice! Until then, I view the advocates of "Carbon footprint" and GW by a more honest name "Nature NAZIS".
