Changing the number of poles on the stator or rotor seems the best fix.

I have cut down a stator with a jigsaw fitted with a metal blade to make a 21 pole stator....
so this can be done with ordinary hand tools.
I have not finished the motor yet but intend to match it to a 42 pole rotor.

a friend of mine went one further & made a 14 pole motor, with bedini triggers.
I think more poles will give a better motor action.
when you unwind the coils on these you will see that there is about 9.5meters per stator coil x 14 poles for each wind.
the total copper on one of these for all 3 phases will fill a std bedini monopole spool.
here are some pics of configurations possible with this motor,
remember that 2 motors can be placed on the same shaft with little effort.

    Paul.
I am about to start work on my motor. Thanks for the information
any more data you have will be very much appreciated.
I hope to return the favor.

      Info

      Hi there Rod,
Here are some good web sites for info on the F&P drive. You might have to find where the info is on these sites but shouldn't be hard. yourgreendream.com / thebackshed.com / ecoinnovations.com . cheers Jason

Are these F&P motors only made in and available in Australia? I know fleaBay is a source but if they are Aussie only then I'm sure shipping will be a lot.

I have some drawings for a concept stator for converting the f & p motors into window motor format
if anyone would like to build it I am am happy to provide scale drawings for cnc or laser cutting, also If some-has access to that set of gear I would appreciate an extra set of parts, if you can.

Ren I am back in Sydney & have obtained a motor to work on this concept with....I don't have a lab or tools here in Aus, so would appreciate some help....If some you know would like to help me put this together.

in my opinion these are the best options.....

          1) custom stator to match magnets
I have designed a custom stator to drive the F&p motor in window motor fashion

          2) 3 phase bedini cole bipolar circuit,to drive standard motor.
A friend helped design a 3ph circuit for an adams motor based on the ssg circuit, with a little work this could probably be modified to be a 3 ph window motor circuit which will run the motor virtually unmodified

          3) modify rotor to have 42 mags in n/s layout, rewire poles to clockwise & ccw winds to operate same as ricks fan motors this is relatively easy as the mags can be removed fairly easily on some models & replaced with 42 mags to match stator.
as there is a steel band behind the mags n/s would probably work best.

I will post pics soon posting from wifi late & time to go home.

          paul.

          Hi Paul,

Good to hear from you again. Where are you in Sydney at the moment? I still regularly meet with Weston, he has all the tools at his workshop as you saw.

Like the sound of your build. Im trying to learn the basics of Arduino at the moment, it could be a very handy tool to drive multiple phases.

The window motor circuit would work well, even with the standard configuration IMO.

          Hope to cactch up soon

          Ren

I don't know? They are are most likely available all over the world under a diffident name or another model.

See what I can find out.

the important parts are easily packed up in a small box and shipped for a small fee. just need to find someone over here to help. see if i can find another F&P.

Hi these motors are everywhere in aus & nz as used fisher & paykel smartdrive washing machines.
I would approach repair agents or recycling depots here.
as the motors do get replaced.
LG washing machines also have a similar motor on their new machines,& the motors are also available in the US from GE or someone like that, for more info,
search the ecoinnovation website they sell used motors for use as generators & have much more info on them.

Now the simplest way I have come up with of modding one of these for use as a F.E motor is to run one as is with a 3 phase window motor circuit.
we have already designed a 3phase adams motor circuit, which works quite well on nth or sth pole only motors, would someone like to help with adapting this to be a bipolar 3 ph circuit?
shown is the circuit & 3 ph adams motor it was driving.

              Paul.

                circuit mentioned in post above

Hi this is the pic mentioned in the post above.

based on the ssg circuit a bipolar version of this circuit should drive the motor unmodified.
