      Probably would need a different material for combustion chamber for it to
      work ceramic, plastic, etc.

        You could not do it with metal... all you would get is enourmous uncrontrolled arcing. Then there is the issue of mounting and controlling a suitable waveguide .. not the easiest problem to solve.

        That said, 2Kw of microwave energy is a small generator and unless multiple cylinders were being 'fired' at the same time then one would surfice.

        Other issues are that has higher revs, the mark time would be very short, so possibly a higher powered pulsing microwave .. then it all gets more complicated.

        I doubt this is a runner. That level of microwave energery is seriously bad for you if it leaked !
