How to turn plastic waste into diesel fuel cheaply
any of you can sell a machine of this, the truth I know nothing of chemistry or mechanics, but if I want to convert waste into diesel fuel,
How about making a simple tool like this,
some boys in Junior high in my country doing this to convert plastic garbage into crude oil. They really have the spirit and successfully convert plastic garbage into crude oil, check this out :

If you melt your sample with a soldering iron, if it has a sharp smell and leaves black residue, it is most probably PVC - do NOT use that. If it has a terible smell and tends to bubble a lot when melting, it is most probably PETE - also NOT good. If it does not bubble, leave black residue where it was heated and does not have a too sharp or terrible smell, it is probably PP or PE and is good for making a good quality fuel.
Mr.Jetis .. Thanks for the wonderful presentation . Indeed I request you to comment on the my earlier query about residence time for plastic in pyrolysis reactor . I wish to know is there any thumb rule for calculating residence time ?

Our 50 liter reactor took about 4 hours at 12kw of power to fully finish and yielded around 28 liters of diesel. At higher powers the time is reduced. 75% of the time is spent just to melt the stuff, when it starts boiling, everything starts going really fast. The times depend on the input powers, device design and needed liquid fraction. Gasoline will take more time, parrafins and waxes much less time.

I am constructing my second reactor which will be about 60 kg and powered by the kerosene fraction. I have done 24 batches with my little 1 kg reactor trying out many catalysts etc. The new reactor will have 3 condensers the first heated by a mixture of excess gas and propane will yeild diesel while the next will yield kerosene and the 3rd water cooled one is for petrol/naphta.

I was refering to the older 50L version that had the aluminum oxide bricks around it. After that I built a 75 liter unit using band heaters, but the heating power turned out to be way too low (about 5kw). The refluctor cooled the vapors too much because of not enough heat and this made much of it condense and flow back into reactor again and again. I hot very little fuel and much gasses and the process itself was way too long. So I now need to rebuild it and use a liquid fuel burner as the heat source. My friend already did this and it works very good. Here are some pictures of my last design:

Hi everybody, I appreciate all your sharing. I was inspired by this technology a few years ago when I came across klean industry's videos on youtube. I spend about 5 hours reading from the start of this thread, wading through all sorts of ideas failed experiments and technical information I don't understand. (I appreciate all your endeavors and wish to learn from your work) I made it half way through, to page 22, I now have sore eyes and wonder if this technology is even worth pursuing from a home made point of view after so many accounts of sub-standard diesel fuel. I am glad I came across this thread as I was about to order a plant from tirestooil.(is there any new understanding on tirestooil's integrity?) Is there any successful conclusion yet or is every body here still in the experimental stages? I can see there are company's producing quality fuel, however they have comprehensive machinery. I would greatly appreciate advise on weather to save money and buy a comprehensive professionally built plant or in fact it is possible to produce a consistent, quality product for use in older diesel engines from a relatively simple home made gizmo? Does any body KNOW of a company producing a single machine or equipment that works in this regard that doesn't require big under ground tanks, concrete and a huge site for location? Has any body cracked it back yard style? If so would you kindly summarize on details etc. Regards.

I want to make a very small reactor , using iron pipe,
For heater. will use 3 x 40 watt heater from soldering tool put at the pole below the heater ( see the picture).
The reactor will cover with asbestos for 1-2 cm.
Do you think this reactor can achieve 450 C , as this is a very small volume of reactor.

I understood what you have said. Residence depends on the amount of energy given to the waste depending on type of waste ( melting energy per kg + cracking energy per kg ) . If one gives this total energy in a minute then the residence time shall be a minute .
