What do you mean by unoffensive spark gap? A gap that does not produce light and sound as waste byproducts? There is such a thing as an unoffensive spark gap if this is what you mean -- vacuum tubes. There are tubes which were made specifically to be spark gaps, and a small fluorescent bulb will also work, as well as a dead lightbulb. Each of these can allow a spark gap with less sound and light as a byproduct. They aren't, however, adjustable.

For an adjustable spark gap, a multiple spark gap will probably help. Here's an example of a multiple spark gap I built.

In the movie 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest', remember the scene at the marina? This was a good lesson on judging other people. When each of the patients were introduced as "Professor this" or "Doctor that", they looked like the Doctor or the Professor ... maybe unkempt, definitely eccentric-looking and knowledgeable , educated. But we knew by watching the earlier parts of the movie that they were all 'LOONS" ... One of my favorite movies too.

I ask again ... is the 'stingo circuit video' called that because of the background music or is there an experimenter/poster named "Stingo". Go ahead everyone ... laugh ... I rarely get the punch line of most jokes anyway, so have at it.

I didn't know that. Thats interesting. The message I got from the video was that the guy had passed, and rather than mourn his passing they celebrated his life. Hopefully one day we will have good reason to celebrate the live's of others when they pass. It is right to mourn I guess, but the passer on generally would not want people to be sad about it too much or for too long. I never really bothered to find out, thats just how it seemed to me.

It is half past 4 a.m. here, instead of doing that 555 circuit (dont know
what a **** this relay means, how it works, never saw such thing, it
has two positions and it seems he is active in both positions, so,
i do not know how to manage that )i made this ****ing pulsator, and
it seems to work but this VIN stuff should work like "after pot. point"
but it seems it doesnt work like that, because when i turn pot. left
and right nothing happens, values are all the same...I tried different
transformers and to be honest i am not sure how to use it...It looks
like astabil vibrator, generates high voltage on the primary...
This VIN should work, otherwise it doesnt make any sense...
I used TIP 31 as transistor...So, i tried, i expected much better
result, but it is what it is...Greg, it is your turn...I suggest you to
make this circuit on the test board, it is simple and doesnt take too
much time, so you can help us to go further with this circuit...
Beside this VIN puzzle, transformer is going to be key point of course...
And if somebody know how to manage this RELAY from that attachment
in one of my last posts (555 circuit) is welcome with advices !

More silly reason than that actually lol, I had to sting my self to make the circuit work because the first stingo version use my hand as part of the circuit . 500K potentiometer replace the hand .

No, this is 555 based radiant circuit where the relay is being used to dump capacitor charge. It is not self runner.

I don't use it anymore because I see stingo as better radiant circuit than 555 and cap dumping method heat the battery up. Bedini do not use coil at all on his cap dumping patent.

The relay:
two left terminal is what activate the relay if connected to battery.

The right bottom is the moveable terminal

the right-right top terminal is the normally connected terminal, the top middle terminal is the normally unconnected terminal.

I built the op-amp based impulser mentioned earlier in this thread. It looks very promising. I am going to hook it up to the Stingo next to get sharper, higher voltage impulses. Sharp, high voltage impulses without a spark gap is going to be great!

You do not need a secondary. One winding will create the inductive pulse. IT's recommended, for optimization, that silver coated copper wire is used as the shockwave (longitudinal wave) travels on the outside of the wire.

For the charging effect, don't we just want to direct the field collapse back to the battery via HV Diode(s)?

That appears to be what is done in the video's with watkykji. You can however improve upon the inductive field by using it to charge a capacitor which eventually breaks down the resistance in a spark gap. The whole "disruptive discharge" which Tesla wrote about. This then effects a secondary (if you go this route the secondary is needed, but follow Tesla's circuit's then, not Boyce's) which is used to power the load.

If so, then do we need three (3) windings ? Do we need three (3) different frequencies ? Do they need to be synchronized in some way. If multiple frequencies are used and synchronization is required then a Micro would be convenient, but in Tesla's day he would build a commutator with brushes in the proper arrangement to create the phase and synchronicity and then spin THAT with a motor to generate the PWM to pulse the coil(s). One way or another I think we need a toroidal core made from choice materials but I still don't know why THAT amounts to any more than pulsing a toroidal CHOKE. Last sentence is awkward I know.

I don't think it's any different but you need to keep the pulse rate down. The dV/dT is critical for influencing the strength of the inductive spike. The whole project can be simplified if you focus on Tesla's basic parameters, and from there, experiment with more than one winding, more than one frequency (harmonics only though, I would imagine).

However you design what you design, if a HV fuse can be placed on the line in between the FET and the inductor you can prevent frying a lot of FETs. I haven't done this yet myself, but I fried a bunch as I played with increasing the frequency. I posted a lot on another forum regarding my own observations with this effect. If I can dig up those posts, since that forum is gone, I'll do so and paste the experimental observations here. It would help to a degree with the questions people have. I can't recall every thing from memory as it's been months since I could test this stuff due to poor circumstances for myself.

Thank goodness somebody else noticed that I don't understand how it can't bee seen, but anyway, with the quad coil arrangement of Nikola's design each opposite pair are parallel connected, and fired 90* out of phase is it.

So the magnetic intensity moves a quater turn with every 180* rotation of the source generator, I think and so on, so the effect at high frequency would be to have a pair of magnetic intensities, or is four whatever rotating around the circular core at very high rate, if true this would behave just like a very high speed flywheel without the weight. Probably the worlds most efficient generator flywheel ever conceived. It would also explain a lot of other things like the flywheel restart effect (taking less energy) maybe I dunno you guys can work that out ?

There ya have it, it fits with the other theory I uncovered funny that.

Harvey would know I think he's really smart in these area's. I really don't know it's just what I see. All things I learn here 1 + 1 = 3 .
