This is my first post in these forums so bear with me.
I have been working indirectly with New Earth Solutions now for some time and upon joining the movement in the last few months think that this company embodies many of the qualities that Zeitgeist & Venus are trying to educate the general population about and to me seems morally viable as part of the waste & energy solution.
In short they take domestic waste from local councils in UK, transfer it to their composting plants where they organically compost the waste into commercial compost & energy. They also recycle all possible ferrous & non ferrous metals & some light weight plastics.
They have used technologies from all over the world to build a contained system with minimal emissions and maximum efficiency. They currently produce more energy than they use so are able to sell this green energy back to the National Grid. When i last spoke with Will Timmons (one of their reps) i was told that they are about to implement a new tech that should further increase their energy production.
So to summarize:
Intake of domestic/commercial waste
80% diverted from landfill to compost or recycled
Contained system to ensure no toxic leakage
Self powered by Green Thermal Energy with an excess output of green energy
There is also a semi guarantee that the UK councils will continue to use and increase their usage as under the European Union’s Landfill Directive all member states must decrease their landfill waste. "By 2010, BMW going to landfill must be 75% of the amount produced in 1995; by 2013 this is reduced to 50% and by 2020 to 35%."
The reason for this post is twofold:
One i believe that this company needs recognition for their good and moral approach to profit when every other company makes profit to the detriment of the planet.
Second although our (Zeitgeist) long term goal is to be rid of the monetary system in the shorter term we all need to support ourselves in the current system. New Earth are open to outside investors through the New Earth Funds. These help them to expand and build more plants across the UK and soon hopefully into Europe and then further.
The funds return about 10% annually and as far as i am concerned are one way to morally invest funds and provide for your short term future and at the same time keep within (as far as we can while still in a working monetary system) the context of the Venus Project's efficiency ideals*.
