  • Becoming Green...Which is Better - Top Down or Bottom Up

How can a country become really green? One way could be for the government to really get ito the act and pass mandates (and implement them strictly). This is a rather top down approach and I guess could work to a certain extent.

I'd probably prefer the bottom up approach where the people of a country take it upon themselves to do something about the environment.

Which do you think will be more effective? And how do you think India's green warriors are doing (see here for a list of such prominent Indian green activists) in waging a grassroots war to save the environment

I think it's good whenever a government can do things bc:

While the individuals put together have a larger effect than a government operations, the government has more resources than an individual. They can help get the costs down by buying newer technology and they can be examples for others to follow.

Of course I've nothing against individuals working on being green, that is needed as well.
