Where to buy iron cores?

Greetings all...

I'm looking for 1/2" diameter cores for my project to rapidly move magnetic flux so low hystersis cores would be best. I need (16) 1/2" x 6" pieces for my generator project so a total of approx. 8 feet.
I'm currently using standard 1/2" rolled common round steel bar stock, but I want to increase my efficiency.
I am looking for recommendations/suggestions on the best choice as I have not had much success in finding anything good online or local.

Core material

Hi,
I have a 25lb roll of .5 inch wide un-anealed M5 elec steel tape.
I can mail U some if you will reimburse my expense.
I t's about 10 mils thick. has a grey color and is coated with clear substance that is easy to scrape off.
Got it at Alphacore in NY

Go to a scrap yard and see if you can find a large transformer or two. You might be able to scrounge all your cores that way.
