I just ran across this new concept in hydro power that would be easy to build and has the capability to produce 5kw from a unit no bigger than 3' x 3' x 2' in any canal, stream, or ocean current of 6mph or less. Its hinged rotor blade design is the secret to maximizing the power to the shaft as little resistance exists back against the flow of water. This same principle I am currently working on with a wind power generator. Both will revolutionize these natural sources of energy and make it possible for anyone to construct. This hydro concept does not need a built in generator, it could also be engineered to use a drive shaft coupled to a point on dry land where the generator could be located.
