i sometimes liken it to knitting in 4 dimiensions.

exactly what kind of rodin have you wound, as there are quite a few different versions.

I've wound two wires 9 turns each. I think my diameter of the torus should have been smaller for a vortex but it is the first one so Im learning thanks rave. I've hooked it up to my ossie motor already without much joy. I saw someone else put windings in series so i tired that but seems counterintuitive to me based on what I've seen so far of the vids.

nice neat looking coil..though i think perhaps you may need more wraps than you have...but, only a test will show.

As for schematics, you can do as geminitric did, and have a standard bedini circuit but with the two rodin coils in series with the bedini drive winding.

Or 1 rodin winding in series with the bedini and the other rodin winding as a generator.

on both of the above you would have the rodin coil sort of sat on top of the bedini coil..with whatever rotor youre using in the middle.

Or you can do something like Jack Schulze from you tube did,

ok, i think ive managed to wire up two 4013 flip flop chips as it should be to create the circuit in the video in my last post......but im scared to turn it on

nice job getting everything up & running so quickly ( takes me bloody ages ! lol )

that squeaky sound that you had at the start....ive had that too at times as the magnet kind of wobbles between going CW & CCW.

also, you might want to mount the rotor assembly closer to the edge of the board...so that the rodin can be held / fixed so it is at 90 degrees to the rotor and not 45 like you had it. ( See skycollection on youtube...you will see what i mean )

Im switching to a 3 mag rotor. The squeaky sound Ive heard a lot with the ossie motor as well. It takes a while to hit the sweet spot but it feels more efficient than the other coils Ive used. Time to measure. I want to hook the coils up to two diff pwr supplies but I have no idea to get the switch timing right. Ive only been building circuits since the steorn announcement so my knowledge is limited.

yup...thats exactly how i had it in my mind

did you check out skycollection ( on youtube )?

what i like about his rotor, is that it is big enough so that the magnets are far enough apart so they are "distinct" from one another.

On yours, obviously they are so close that the 3 fields will be interacting....however...dont let that put you off because having them as you have could lead ...who knows where

another plus point about your setup is that the magnets actually go "into" the coil..and come back out as they revolve...so to speak.

From what I understand of the vids I have watched so far, the two coils should be pulsed seperately not in series. In fact at one Marko says they are completely different circuits. Does anyone have a circuit like this that they've used for a Rodin coil.

i do indeed have a way of doing this via my PIC32-MX, however mine is programmed in interpretated BASIC which is slowwwww...

does anyone know what is the C Equivelent of the following BASIC command....

poke(0xBF8860D0)=254

this places the byte value 254 into memory address 0xBF8860D0

hope someone can help as my C knowledge is almost zero !

p.s im working on a way to do it via my function generator via a circuit.but waiting on some parts in the mail, hopefully should get delivered to me at work today

Hi all,

got the parts and constructed a circuit that pulses as follows..

pulse-A .. pulse-B...GAP

driven by the function generator.

Also, have managed by the skin of my teeth to understand enough C language to program the PIC32 in C to turn on any ports i desire at maximum speed

i am going from the PIC port..through the internalk diode of an opto isolator and triggering the mosfet from that....however... the optos seem to have a maximum speed of about 30Khz or so...

so Gyulasun or anybody.. is there any other way to go from the PIC port ( it outputs 3.3V btw ) without using an opto?

i should mention that the ports on the pic when in their OFF condition have 3.3V...when they are turned ON that voltage goes to zero...so its wired from a reference voltage on the chip of 3.3V...to the diode (of the opto).and back to the PIC port..so that when the port is turned ON and its voltage drops to zero you now have a voltage difference of 3.3V(reference) to zero across the diode..hopefully that makes sense.

there are GROUND pins on the PIC btw.

so, any help removing the opto's appreciated.

Hi all,

can anybody recommend a FWBR that will handle european 240VAC so i can charge up some DC caps ( so i can kick this rodin coil up the ass ) ?

ive tried a couple of what ive got handy(taken from PC power supplys ).....but i think im blowing them
