    Looks like it would only take a few dollars investment and half hours work to make the coil up. Try it ...

    Will it work? That still depends on its intended use and careful calculations to match it with your system. It works for what he intended it for....

    Anything will work if it's set to the resonant frequency of the system it will be used with. Where did you find that one? I'm assuming it's going to be used as an output air core transformer....?

    hi, using the following circuit ( taken from OU.com )..



    the cap is a 2,000V micro wave cap, spark gap is a crappy brass concoction, coil is a 10m length of speaker cable (dual wires).

    X is where a ground-earth wire is connected. output transformer is a 240 ->24V , going to a FWBR to a cap with a 100 Ohm resistor across it.

    with the spark gap closed i get 0 V across the resistor.

    spark gap sparking i get between 1.5V and 3.5V depending on how i set the spark gap.

    spark gap completely open, ie about 3mm or more between the terminals...i get almost 6V across the resistor.

    when i disconnect the earth lead it drops to about 1.7V

    I don't know if this has been said, but the first part of the D.Smith device is exactly a Tesla Hairpin Circuit (a.ka. Tesla Impedance Coil)
    Look the pictures:

    There is other option, and it's using a Bedini Solid State. You can charge a cap with radiant energy, and then discharge it into a tesla coil. The secondary of the tesla coil (radiant energy amplified) then is sent to a capacitor bank.

    Remember that radiant energy is the only kind of energy that can be amplified (COP>1). In the electromagnetic energy you will have the same problem--> Amperes and Voltage. But radiant energy is pure voltage.

    I'm not sure if I understood that text but I found interesting what it states about neon transformer dimmer.It seems it is used not to change voltage output but rather to set pulsing frequency send to capacitor in Smith primary circuit. That alone and schematic from this article was enough good information, maybe there is more...

    Yes,please. I know Russian just a bit but was unsuccessful in translation. However that document contains some very interesting informations about Don Smith method.I think so.

    Microwave oven diodes are decent for the job. I use fast rise diodes 20Kv, 100nsec for me.
    A must is to have chocking coils after your FWBR and before your capacitor. This "detail" i have not meet and my NST went straight to trash can.
