Need help with circuit to delay reed switch triggering transistor.

    Once the reed turns the 555 on then it will keep pulsing until the reed is switched off.

    I think what u could look at is counters. During the upswing the reed will turn on and off as the pendulum passes and the counter counts 1. as the pendulum returns the counter will count 2 and u could activate the coil

      Sounds good Dodo. I've had enough of circuits for now, think I'll leave it on the back burner, and see how well it goes without the delay. I'm waiting for the glue to dry on the coil mount right now.

      Later I will add the delay mechanism, maybe a counter, maybe a 555 monostable delay circuit.

      I've gotten impatient for now, and want to see something working

      Again Thankyou all for your input, keep the ideas coming, as it will solve my dilemma for the back end as well; I will have the lever working a bicycle pedal, and have magnets on the bike's back wheel going over another coil.

      I want to avoid lenz drag there too, and only have the coil circuit completed when the magnetic field collapses, so I'm only harvesting radiant.

      Nb : if bedini systems are close to overunity, the pendulum coil should be close to ou. Then from what I've researched on veljko milkovic oscillators, the lever action is at no cost to the pendulum side.

      In theory, this 'gravity mill' is very promising converter of gravity (aether streams rushing into earth's mass to fill the void in the vortex that is matter, thus reinforcing the vortex's spin - picture water in a bath tub going down the plug hole) into electricity.

        Shotgun reed circuit

        @ bodkins - I tried your double reed switch idea and initially got really excited. The coSt of switching is in the milliamps - much lower than previous circuit, and yet it still switches a Tip35c without an intermediary 2n2222

        However, the transistor still shuts off slowly so there is no radiant event when collapses. Maybe a relay after the transistor will work. Will try that later. Here is the schematic

          I like the relay idea,what about the imhotep relay have a reed on the relay?

            @ bodkins - the self oscillating imhotep relay oscillates too fast to build up sufficient charge in my big (500 grams of .6mm copper wire?) coil so no effective magnetic field develops.

            Great minds think alike though eh

            However, using my new knowledge of delayed response in circuits using capacitors and resistors, maybe I can get a relay to oscillate slower, say 10 hz, so several radiant events per pendulum push, and also less current drawn from battery.

            I like the comments you make richard, as always I love bouncing ideas around with you.

            @ gyula, thankyou also for your wonderful input, I just have an irrational aversion to using integrated circuits. Also, they're complicated and I work best when I can visualize the 'superfluid aether gas' moving thru the circuit.

              I did it! Shotgun reed switch delayed switch-on circuit complete

              Complete with two very nice - purple flashing diode - radiant events for a charging battery, one from the relay, one from the coil.

              AND - ** Very important ** -

              I forgot to put in a diode; it needs to go from the 100uf cap positive leg, to the 550 ohm resistor that connects to the capacitor negative leg. Otherwise there's no delay. And that's what this was all about.

                    Cheap Timer Circuit

                    Hey I found this at Jaycar. There is a cheaper version (which I have) but this one is more versatile.
                    It consumes 30mA with relay on, 10mA without @ 12V

                    Check it out, they are very reliable. U could set it for 1 or 2 sec and activate the circuit by a reed switch as it reaches the coil.

                    Are u building a 2 stage mech. oscillator?

                    are u gonna use a bunch of pickup coils to pickup the EM from the swinging pendulum?

                        The energy gain is on the lever / hammer end, because resistance to hammer movement does not affect the pendulum's energy. And since we can push the pendulum with a bedini type radiant capture circuit which is incredibly efficient, maybe we can actually harness gravity to charge batteries or run electrical loads..

                            I do now actually. I hadn't seen it like that, but I suppose you could use it to drive a bike generator, perhaps even a bike. Sweet.

                            Still working on the delay schematic - keeps toasting 2n2222's. But works perfectly when it works. under the schematic is a pic of the goal, yes, with the back end of a bike, lever, pendulum, coils.
