  • Electrical Requirements for my series 80 cell geneator

I would like to discuss the needed electrical components to drive an 80cell series generator using the “brute force” method. This system will be running in a vehicle so I got 13.8 volts from the alternator. So, an 110v AC converter and a dual diode circuit are used to get around 160 volts. I have read that optimal gas production only takes a little less than 2volts per cell. Any more volts per cell is waisted So, 160 volts is needed to drive this generator. Lets say the plate size is 8’’ X 8’’ (64 sq inches). I would like the following questions answered:

    1) What is the wattage used per plate?
    2) What is the wattage used per cell? Since the cell is comprised of two plates, is the wattage per cell just twice the wattage per plate used?
    3) I know that a 110-v AC converter is needed so how many continuous watts does the converter need to provide?
    4) Will a typical alternator be sufficient? If not, what amp alternator is required?
    5) The voltage and plate size are fixed so the amps the system draws will be determined by the catalyst concentration in the electrolyte solution. Is this correct?

    RE: 80 cell HHO electrolizer

Since you are obviousy constructing a Bob Boyce type electrolyzer, I highly suggest taht you read the plans, which are freely avilable. This should answer any questions that you may have, but if you dtill don't understand someting then you use the link to Bob'd website and ask him directly.
