Some time ago John Bedini made those concrete batteries that got higher voltage when heated. Mine still run but need to be soaked in water from time to time.

The historic discovery is doping Holmium with manganese oxide now newer materials are used.
Source: Holmium is not found free in nature but is found in a number of minerals: mainly gadolinite and monazite.
Commercially it is extracted by ion exchange from monazite sand and the metal is isolated
by reducing its anhydrous fluoride with calcium metal. It is the intense magnetostriction
of it's hexagonal crystal geometry (compaction by folding bi-tetrahedrals) that give it's thermal properties.
