    Hey Gav:
    I will hazzard a guess here that you have hit the resonant area of your coil. Check up on the "Q" of a coil and it will lend as to why you can power a lot with so little. That little Q factor turns out to be a multiplier and it can get large.
    Do you have any idea what frequency your osc is running at?

      its still going, not very bright now and i think it will run out soon. so around 6hrs of run time
      i have no idea on the frequency, its a simple set up with only the 1 transistor running it, im still trying to learn everything so i dont know what a Q is? do i need a special machine to find out the frequency? or is there another way? ive blown my voltage meter aswell and waiting to get another

      not sure if it will work or not as it will have gaps inbetween windings but im in the middle of making a back board for another transmitter coil, i have a huge amount of single stranded wire, it will be fairly large when finnished, if it doesnt work as a transmitter it will be a great amplifyer, well im hoping anyway
