Charles flynn permanent magnet motor

I have come across all this stuff recently, cheap energy generators etc, and am inspired to try and build one. Charles flynns one seems like it would be simple to build, but I want to understand fully what it is doing first.

The main thing I dont understand is what the coils on top of the static magnet are doing.

So there is a plate magnet on the bottom of the device, with seven coils on top of the magnet. Each coil is powered on and off when triggered by a moving LED. Are the coils blocking the magnetic field from the bottom magnet when powered on, and so allowing the upper rotating magnet to move without being pulled back, or have I totally misunderstood?

Can Someone please direct me to where someone has actually replicated this device?

He talks about 20,000 RPM and considerable thrust. I am very interested in this design but need to know what is the torque or BHP rating actually achieved in a replica.

a bit confusing when he is using dual names on his patents.
