I want everyone to know I am a 62 year old man who was sick recently for at least 2 weeks but really before that. First you need to know that I have had respiratory problems since age 9 years. That takes us back to the mid 60's during bomb testing time. Anyway every or every other year I got pneumonia, the first lasted months down in the bed sweats bathing inflamed day and night. This continued. All the doc had to give me was more and more, larger and larger and larger doses of you guessed it penicillin. Well and of course ALL OF THE ALTERNATIVES. The lungs go snap crackle pop with this one but if you take OREGON GRAPE and TURMERIC you will make short work of this. Low fever still but I feel like a million bucks already after only two weeks. These will save the day.

How much vitamin C should you take?

I don't see anyone specifically talking about breaking the doses up to many smaller doses throughout the day.

Exactly 50 years ago I picked up a book that told how to stop the common cold with Vitamin C. I used that many times and it does work! It does involve taking it every 4 hours although from experience I found that every 3.5 hours was better for me as the symptoms may start to come back by the time 4 hours has past. You need to do this day and night 24 hours a day for at least 7 to 10 days. They advised 750 mg per dose but I often found I needed more and sometimes used 1 to 2 grams and sometimes even more at a dosage time if I felt I needed it. If you quit before the 7 to 10 days the cold will come back full force so you want to make sure you don't miss a dose.

Interestingly years later when I was computer field engineer and was running a Cat 5 cable through the attic in a Pharmacy I noticed a lone box in their attic. Looking in the uncovered box I saw at least 30 or 40 copies of that exact same book on curing the cold with Vitamin C. I have to assume they didn't want Vitamin C slowing all their cold medicine sales so they hid the book in their attic!
