  • Power of Wind + Power of Sail = Portable Clean Energy

This technology cuts the dollars/watts, almost in half.
    · First credible technology that does not require a tower. It can be mounted on tall buildings.
    · Noise, bird kills and a lot of maintenance and safety issues have been resolved so these turbines can be installed within city limits.
    · Couple of other firsts: This would be the first wind turbine which can be made portable and it can also incorporate photovoltaic technology.
This game changing technology results in ROI of five years or less. Traditional wind turbines have ROI of 20+ years.

    Short description of your technology
iQ Energy's Sail Carousel Wind Turbine starts making power with winds of 6 mph. Our simple, yet efficient design also has the potential to reduce maintenance costs, of existing turbines, by at least 65%. These benefits coupled with the fact that iQ Energy's wind turbines may not require towers, clearly demonstrate our advantage. The clean, efficient design of the sail carousel has allowed us to almost eliminate height, noise, and bird kill issues. Perhaps one of the greatest benefits of our technology is that we offer a return on investment of less than five years. In contrast, existing wind turbines have been predominantly positioned in rural areas, with required wind speeds of about 24 mph to generate power.

What is the key element of your technology that differentiates it from existing solutions
Existing solutions provide wind power, mostly in the rural areas. Our technology fulfills the unmet need of wind power in the urban areas.

Our efficient sail design deflects the wind, rather than catching it. With our technology, the use of towers is optional. In other words, our wind turbines can be installed on any tall structure (high rises) in urban areas, or anywhere the wind approaches in rural areas. In addition, the very low cost of materials and maintenance to develop our turbine allows for a very fast return on investment. One of the reason, our ROI is five years or better is because we make power on with at least three or more generators. Most other wind turbines have one generator. It is important to note that our design is also fully scalable.

Please support the project by voting at :
Future Energy - Startup Investor Community - ARPA-E Voting: Sail Carousel Wind Turbine

The project is competing for a spot in meeting at ARPA. ARPA is part of US dept. of agriculture.

There were 300 applicants. Out of 300, we are among the 46 semifinalist. We need your help.

    Thanks!

Why not get it 3rd-party tested first and then approach third world NGOs with detailed comparison data between conventional wind, solar and micro-hydro in terms of scalability, manufacturing/ costs, ROI, etc. Having units in operation there will lend credibility to any argument you try to make (on TED?) in N.A. but you'll be up against 'Big Oil' as they supposedly run the wind farm business.
