My goal is to power all the house lights....and then everything else.....on simple low power systems that are fed by earth batteries, solar cells, and anything else that looks promising and will save me cash on my elecy bill. And Im hoping Ill have a good time to boot, as well as understand the world around me just that little bit better.
The base diode KILLS any ringing effect. The microhenry inductor works fine in this position.

For me, I try to build over efficient generators. lol I build, then I think about it, finding loop holes and argument/counter argument on why certain works like that. I check back with the book, do some predictions, experiment to see if I predict right, then think again, do revision and the cycle repeats. It's hard to find OU on the plate, but anomaly is not so hard. From anomaly, we keep grinding it to find a whole new world.Originally posted by altrez View PostHello All,

Right now I'm testing one of my own theory by having this circuit charging high impedance loads (several batteries in series). I really want to know if we can model an inductor's core as a pendulum. Really interesting.

Firstly, I wanna thank Xee for making such clear diagrams - its a real treat to have them just come up nice and clear on the page, and makes it real easy to try other peoples mods. I'll be trying those microhenry inductors in a few minutes.
The extra diode on the base of the transistor has certainly improved the setup. I can now light my 72W CFL on less than 200 microamps (5V from charger). Check it out!

Hello All,
I have been studying this neat little device and have made a few replicas. However I am still having trouble understanding its purpose. It seems to be just a home built efficient HV generator / CFL driver?
I made countless JTs and Fugi mods that do pretty much the same thing. I almost fill a bit dumb asking what the goal is because I am sure I have missed something.

in my first year of experimenting with the SSG I went through about 5 multimeters because of that spike - so I stopped measuring amp draw from the primary and amps to the charge battery. It works fine on little builds, but once you get enough wire and transistors, they always get damaged and act like they are working but give out false readings - only to be learned once I have fooled myself a few times
Thanks for the insight on the charging back of the 7Ah. I also share your same outlook on ownership. it's too bad codification and the gold-rush mentality brings about the other stuff.

Do you know the amp draw on that solid state charger when you have it tuned?
Also, when you were trying to charge that 12volt-7AH, it was only getting a current flow between the two banks when there was a voltage differential, so it probably stopped charging it much after awhile.

Yep, here's some info on the Bearcat 12: RadioPics Database - Bearcat/Uniden - Bearcat 12
It's a shame it was broken. The aerial was missing and the mountings inside, I didn't know what it was so took it apart months ago. But, it was free from a guy who used to bring round stuff, if I fixed AC fans or whatever that he salvaged. Am building up another circuit at the moment, same as this one and to compare transformers and wireless fields. Then, on to the ringing stuff at last.
If anyone wants confirmation of what will run and what won't on the diode mod standard inverters, from standard power transistors to MOSFET's, here's my list with datasheets for all the ones I could find around here. May not be much use to those with more advanced projects, but anyway
