  • Bill Gates calls for 'Energy Miracles'

This is interesting to see Gates now focusing on Energy. At least one alternative energy researcher I know says he has a a way to convert spent nuclear fuel to safe material and create energy in the process as Gates talked about:
Long Beach, California (CNN) -- Microsoft Corp. founder and philanthropist Bill Gates on Friday called on the world's tech community to find a way to turn spent nuclear fuel into cheap, clean energy.

"What we're going to have to do at a global scale is create a new system," Gates said in a speech at the TED Conference in Long Beach, California. "So we need energy miracles."

Gates called climate change the world's most vexing problem, and added that finding a cheap and clean energy source is more important than creating new vaccines and improving farming techniques, causes into which he has invested billion of dollars.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation last month pledged $10 billion to help deploy and develop vaccines for children in the developing world.

The world must eliminate all of its carbon emissions and cut energy costs in half in order to prevent a climate catastrophe, which will hit the world's poor hardest, he said.

"We have to drive full speed and get a miracle in a pretty tight timeline," he said.

Gates said the deadline for the world to cut all of its carbon emissions is 2050. He suggested that researchers spend the next 20 years inventing and perfecting clean-energy technologies, and then the next 20 years implementing them.

The world's energy portfolio should not include coal or natural gas, he said, and must include carbon capture and storage technology as well as nuclear, wind and both solar photovoltaics and solar thermal power.

"We're going to have to work on each of these five [areas] and we can't give up on any of them because they look daunting," he said. "They all have significant challenges."

Gates spent a significant portion of his speech highlighting nuclear technology that would turn spent uranium -- the 99 percent of uranium rods that aren't burned in current nuclear power plants -- into electricity.

That technology could power the world indefinitely; spent uranium supplies in the U.S. alone could power the country for 100 years, he said.

A "traveling wave reactor" would burn uranium waste slowly, meaning a 60-year supply could be added to a reactor at once and then not touched for decades, he said.

Gates also called for innovation in battery technology.

"All the batteries we make now could store less than 10 minutes of all the energy [in the world]," he said. "So, in fact, we need a big breakthrough here. Something that's going to be of a factor of 100 better than what we have now."

Gates called for more investment in climate-related technology. He said he is backing a company called TerraPower, which is working on an alternate form of nuclear technology that uses spent fuel.

Money that goes into research and development will pay bigger returns than other investments, he said, especially if money goes into energy sources that will be cheap enough for the developing world to afford.

Clean energy technologies must be installed in poorer countries as they develop, he said.

"You'd be stunned at the ridiculously low costs of innovation," said Gates, who received a standing ovation for his remarks.

If he could wish for anything in the world, Gates said he would not pick the next 50 years' worth of presidents or wish for a miracle vaccine.

He would choose energy that is half as expensive as coal and doesn't warm the planet.

Sounds like, he dont know, what he is talking about,
when he use still Global Warming as Reason to sell something.
They could be since a while green with Electric Cars,
and combine it with H2O but there happens nothing,
instead they are looking for another complicated Way,
to produce something, what you only can use in addiction with the Industrie.

Gates want do that now since couple Years, but when i look back,
what he did with the operating Systems for Pc's,
    then No Thanks.
A OS, what only had some screwed Basics, the graphical Platform was
nothing else, as Apple allready had and for every little Piece
you shall pay for and it never worked really well,
beside, that he let the Costumers regular pay and test her whole Developement
    what they did on it.

He could start with Brown's Gas / Hydroxy.. Shown to remove up to 92% of radioactivity from gamma ray-emitting radioactive materials that the hydroxy flame touches.

Very similar results have been seen with LENR / Cold Fusion as well.. "Hot" materials put into close proximity to the Palladium electrodes will lose their radioactivity (which always makes me ponder the relationships between the two; they both can also "transmute elements" which is essentially what the loss of radioactivity is about anyway).

I noticed Intellectual Ventures' Patent Application for the "electromagnetic engine" has not been Approved yet (nor "pulled"). This is the group that he and Nathan Myhrvold started (lol still no mention of that particular device on their site).

All I see is an attempt to make a new energy retailer to keep the worlds population enslaved by these new energy sellers for the next 100 years or more. Mr. & Mrs. Planned parenthood agenda suporters can put their ideas back in their pockets as the world is to be free of these energy enslavers in the next 10 years or so if I have anything to say about it!

Yes. i see it the same Way.
Devices, what are wrapped into Patents and Licences, to make sure,
noone can really afford more, and prevent, that someone is building something by his own without doing a copyright violation.

              Hi jibguy

This is a nice technology look for paul brown and his atomic batteries he state that the energy generated in 20 years from his battery is thousands times greater than the energy released during the service time of uranium.

The Energy Miracle Is Already Here

                Hi everybody,

Before I move out on to the street (Thursday some time), I wanted to let you know that the "MIRACLE", that Bill Gates is trying to gain support for in finding, is already here and has been here for over 30 as a practical solution to current and future energy demands and needs.

Place yourself about 100 feet above any local city, town or neighborhood, shopping center. See how much 'rooftop real estate' is there. How about parking lots, easements or whatever ?

I'd like to show you some FREE ENERGY MACHINES I built in the early 2000s. I built them for other people, but 'I still built them' and, if nothing else, can stand proud and say "... I took part, I played a role, and I made a difference...".

                Here's just some of them:

                Some PV Shingles (Grid Tied)

System with Battery Back-up (Grid Tied & Independent Sub-Panel)

System To Just Support a Millionaire's Swimming Pool (Grid Tied)

Completely Stand-Alone System ... These People are Energy-Independent

                  Hi Ted

nice photos, in the last one on the right, is that a methane production plant?

                      Hi Mike,

If you are referring to the "Shingles" - "Stand-Alone" photos of PV panel installations, then my name is not "Ted", it's Greg. That being true, the large tank in the lower right of the last picture is the well-water tank and the smaller white vessel is the pressure accumulator.

I think that Bill Gates wants to do something but doesn't know how to do it, for example he wanted to help the poor countries, but he ended up making vaccines for them!

He needs to get information and we are the guys that should guide him, and if he really wants to help, he'd better put his money into developing ZPE/Aether devices. First way is to get him convinced that matter is not the source of energy, energy is the source of matter, and then, and then when you are not dependant on matter, that is when you can go out developing a device that harnesses energy from the fabric of space-time itself.

Somebody has to give him a new pair of glasses.

                              Hey elias,

You are so right. He is completely out of his element. He is used to the enormous profits made by publishing a bunch of 1's & 0's on some media and charging 1,000,000% of cost for it ... things sure played into his court I'd say. It's a phenomenon that certainly will not be repeated, at least on the same scale.

I'm afraid Gates is too 'mainstream'. It's possible that he cannot think 'outside the box' that he himself built. For him to participate, he would need to hire consultants to advise him. Those consultants would come from ... where else? ... mainstream science and engineering. I thought maybe Dean Kamen might come up with something, but then again he gave us "IT" ... you know ... the Segway ... what happened to that now ? Oh yeah ... nothing !
