Grace: Thank you for the "karate chop" motion and aligning proceedure you mentioned. (I couldn't find it again to reference directly) I've been muscle testing for years, though use a different method than I've heard others mention. (I place the tip of my middle finger over the nail base/first knuckle area of my index finger and apply downward pressure. Left hand. I'm right handed)
The first tries with the karate chop motion all came out positve/postive regardless how my feet were positioned. Hmmm. And then suddenly it "corrected" itself. Positive=pigeon toed, Negative=ballet feet. (hope I'm remembering that correctly) Often now I test opposite that and correct after a single "chop".
I've not applied any true testing of how effective my testing is though am very grateful for this tool. Thank you.
Jan: the paint you use sure transforms the look of the wood - or so it appears from the picture! It looks almost as if it were poured into a mold.
Also - on a seperate topic... best wishes on finding your path through the MD question and frustration. It sounds as though exhaustion is adding to your stress. It's a challenge to feel positive and focused when you barely have time to catch your breath. I hope you can find quiet, peace and a restful center both in body and mind soon.
About finding that positive feeling when it feels illusive... for me...sometimes, even though my life is/was filled with blessings, I would have a hard time feeling gratitude. I just couldn't muster it when overwhelmed by sadness or at some low point. At those times I would take it down to basics. "I am so grateful I have lungs that draw full breath which nourishes my body." It might seem a simple thing but for some people it is a luxury they don't have. Wow... Next might be "I am so grateful for strong legs that take me whereever I want to go." Again, not a given for some. With these the "funk" would begin to lessen as I became truly grateful for such wonderous gifts and from there I could fall asleep quietly or rev it up a notch or two with more gratitudes.
I hope it might help you as well.

After posting five minutes ago, I walked down to the office at the shelter, and picked up my mail... in my mail was a letter from the housing authority, and I got my group interview!!!! Yeahhhh!!! This is sooo exciting, they are going to get me into a 3 bedroom house or apt. where the kids and I can live!!!!
This morning I went to the first HUD group interview and it was for public housing... I and a few other ladies are at the very top of the list because of DV and temp housing... Monday I go to my second group interview and that one is for a voucher so I can go rent non public housing!
